Saudi Arabia is enforcing a law to ban gays and "tom boys" (lesbians) from attending schools and universities in the country.
The country says that they must change both their appearance and their behavior. RT reports that the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has been given high-level orders to enforce the ban on homosexuality and also girls who adopt a masculine appearance.

The Arabic-language news agency, Al Sharq has reported the announcement which reads: “Instructions have been issued to all public schools and universities to ban the entry of gays and tom boys and to intensify their efforts to fight this phenomenon, which has been promoted by some websites.” The paper did not make clear who issued those instructions, however the banned children and teenagers will not be allowed back into school unless they “stop such practices” and “unacceptable behavior” in public places. Under Shariah or Islamic law in Saudi Arabia, homosexuality is punished with sentences of corporal and capital punishment. The Saudi authorities brought in a law 2 years ago to ban the hiring of gays and lesbians in the work place.

Why somebody should make sure the citizens vote on important issues like that, might I suggest the democracy wing of NATO.

Quite a difference between one dogma not catering to or accepting the issue than kicking them out of the schools. Nor does the Catholic church control government, the government in fact is busy dealing with the Catholic school's regarding their tricky response to a new gov't policy.
In Saudi Arabia homosexuals are punished with imprisonment or put to death. Same for LGT. So it is not "crap like that".
