Syria fires into Turkish refugee camp - World - CBC News

Certainly at the very least, Turkey could insist that the Syrian regime investigate who fired the shots and hand him over to Turkish police for trial; and should Syria refuse or drag it's feet on it, give it a deadline after which it's to be assumed that the Syrian government is accepting culpability, at which stage Turkey has the legitimate right to destroy that government.

That ought to give Assad an incentive to find out who did it. And of course if the one who did it was merely following orders, Turkey releases him and and for the next one up and so on. And of course to make sure Assad doesn't just pass the buck, Turkey expects a proper trial to ensure that the person handed to them did indeed pull the triger or at least ordered the attack.

uh oh.. I see a full scale war on the horizon.. Turkey is part of The NATO Alliance, correct??

I'd like to see a 2 for 1 deal, Iran and Syria taken out at the same time..

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Bashar al-Assad can share a cell together.

At least everybody will get to see how good the S-400 is.
Why is arming the rebels in Syria a nobel thing when arming rebels in Bahrain is a bad thing?

How is this any different than supporting the Contra death squads?

The rebels could have been at fault so why is it automatically pinned on Syria?

(in part)
Meanwhile, Turkish media have reported that at least five Syrian refugees have been wounded inside a camp on the Turkish side as clashes between the Syrian army and militants rage near Syria-Turkey border.

Some reports suggest that the refugees were hit by stray bullets from clashes between Syrian rebels and government troops.

The Syrian army has been fighting armed groups on the Lebanese and Turkish borders for the past months. Damascus has repeatedly accused Ankara of providing armed groups with weapons and letting them cross into Syria via the Turkish border.

The Syrian government has also confiscated large caches of weapons smuggled into Syria from Lebanon.

Israel is closely watching the unrest in Syria. There are fears that a power change in Damascus could lead to a conflict over the strategically vital territories of Golan Heights - a crucial source of water for Israel.
The Golan Heights stretch between the borders of Lebanon, Jordan and Syria, and the only freshwater lake in Israel adjoins this territory. It provides about thirty per cent of the country’s water. Water is pumped to the south and the center of the country, where it’s used for agriculture and domestic purposes.

You guys aren't keeping up at all. Too painful or too embarrasing to acknowledge the role outside Nations have in what should be an internal matter?

Syrian rebels

The Syrian army’s pursuit of rebels across the Turkish border has shed light on claims of rebel groups using refugee camps as safe havens. Reports suggest the Free Syrian Army could be treating them as springboards to launch incursions into Syria.
RT correspondent Sara Firth interviewed an anonymous source on the Syrian-Turkish border following the incident, who said that members of the Free Syrian Army were operating in the border region.

“They [Syrian rebels] cross the border, then they walk back again. Maybe the Turkish army finds some and takes them back to the camp, others just come by themselves. A lot of these people work with the Free Syrian Army,” he said.

He added that the Turkish government turns a blind eye to their movements and “lets them go back to fight.”

RT also spoke to a member of the Free Syrian Army operating in the area, who told her the opposition wanted to pressure the Turkish government into providing “arms and equipment from NATO.”

According to media reports, Syrian regime troops who were pursuing insurgents after they attacked a military checkpoint opened fire across the border, killing one and injuring several people.

Turkey has been highly critical of the Assad regime, and has previously been accused of harboring and training Syrian rebels in the south of the country close to the border region.

Former FBI translator Sibel Edmonds wrote in December that US and NATO troops had been training insurgents in Hakkari, southern Turkey.

It is reasonable to say that if we cannot prove that it is actually Syrian forces who fired on the camp it's a different matter, and likewise if they fired defensively against rebels in Turkey. But then it would be up to Turkey to say that no rebels are to fight from the Turkish side of the border. If they want to fight, they go to Syria to fight.

Turkey and Lebanon are where NATO are supplying the rebels from.

Arrest warrants have been issued on Tuesday against three people on charges of smuggling arms to Syria.
Two Lebanese, Ahmed Mohammed M. and Husseim Kamil A., and a Palestinian, Zeinab Safi G., are included in the warrants, while investigations are underway to determine the full identity of their two accomplices, Walid Haidar and Issam Hatoum.
The three suspects were arrested in Aley.
They were found in possession of a number of light weapons, as well as rockets, worth $7,200.
They included eight rocket-propelled grenades, a thousand Kalashnikov rifle bullets, and 500 MLC rifle bullets.
The smugglers were carrying out their activity through Wadi Khaled in northern Lebanon and they have so far conducted four operations into Syria.
Smuggling weapons to Syria has increased in recent months in light of the eruption of the country’s revolt against the ruling regime.

Well you just can't get any more blatant than this. How do we get out of NATO or is Germany going to be where we launch the invasion from. Good thing 34M Canucks be herded around like a bunch of goats and not one bleat in protest. Syria and Iran and Russia are not our worst enemies. Our willingness to be entirely totally ****ing stupid is our one and only endearing quality. Elictric cars indeed, with **** like this sliding by almost without comment the power cords should be shoved up your ass and turned on full power fpor a weekend or until you look like you need a sandwich, whichever comes last.

THE ROVING EYE
What's goin' on at the Turkish-Syrian border?
By Pepe Escobar

There is a video [1] that could be loosely translated as "Terrorist Turkish border opening fire on the Syrian side" that pretty accurately sums up what's going on at the ultra-volatile geopolitical hotspot of the moment.

The voice over says, "This is the Syria-Turkey border, and this is an operation of the Free Syrian Army [FSA] ... The Gate [that would be the Syrian side of the border, housing the Gate checkpoint] is going to be seized."

What this means is that Turkey is sheltering the FSA right on the border, only a few meters - and not kilometers - away from Syrian territory. Way beyond hosting a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) command and control center in Iskenderun

for months now - a fact already reported by Asia Times Online - Turkey has now advanced right to the border, enabling a back-and-forth by heavily weaponized guerrillas/mercenaries to attack a sovereign state.

Imagine a similar scenario happening, say, at a Mexican-US border in Arizona or Texas.
Asia Times Online :: What's goin' on at the Turkish-Syrian border?

We have some warmongers on the board, for a short experiment pretend this is a lab experiment, black out the present names (or better yet just reverse them) and each person insert their own nationality (or your favorite nation, a not so subtle hint to include the usual suspects)

Coming from the Republic of Alberta after taking a few hits I'd hammer them. Can't cross the border but pull back just enough that I can't get hit and nobody can get past me either and then have my friends in the rear go after their friends and have live vid (by the army itself) of the firefight and capture and interview of every little prick taken into custody right then and there (name, rank. serial # is fine, if you want to say more and be let go at the nearest border then that is a free-will choice). Stay in line you don't get abused, step out you get plunked right in front of your 'friends'. You would be better of being a foreigner cause then you would stand in open court or just expelled if yopu confessed and gave names of who hired you. (they will kill you but so ****ing waste, waste of skin anyway)

I've been here long enough to know who I would like to hear from. Too bad the IDF doesn't follow this thread I'm sure they have a solution, one that kills quickly and with as little discomfort to the dead as possible (rather bthan just nicking the heart so the end is slow and painful), know what I mean?)

Treason is a hanging offense, nuff said I hope that means dealing with anybody from a foreign nation. Need some weapons, bribe your own military to get them, just like every other nation in the world. At least you know the nation wins not some rich ****s that probably can't even find the nation they are terrorizing on a map.

Colpy, care to be first to reply using Gaza as the rebels and shooting into Israel from just across the border as the 'imaginary' border. Should the ones being shot at retaliate in a way that would discourage any retaliation for the next generation or two? (BTW on a personal note when you were flagging I would have been on one of the machines you were keeping safe. That pays about $70k for 6 months, the differnce of working with gravel over asphalt is about $15/hr. The extra training take 10 minutes (drive straight and never ever run out of, wait for it, water)

Back to people getting hurt just for the **** of it. What now, the Rebels never agreed to stop their weapons from firing, should the army back off and leave the civilians under the control of the rebels with their weapons? Anybody here even know an election is in the works, then what, if the result isn't to the liking of the West, it invasion time even thought Bahrain is having the army smash the civilians there and not a ****ing peep out of the media or anybody here. The Saudi elite are crashing from old age and not one ****ing election on the horizon. I can see the world having their heads up heir won asses, do I get to see a smaller example here every ****ing day. (normally a mod would come by about now and say 'no you don't have to endure that and 'poof' I would become a 'disappeared'. It wouldn't even be a big deal for me, not that I'm trying to have that happen but man the people here seem to present themselves as 'fully informed' but when something challenges something they believe to be true.

Bull****, or at least it should be. That specific area is what is keeping the arms industry going. Would you really want to be on the end of that stick. Nobody would so while you might be withdrawn into some sort of shell Canada as a nations is ****ing women, kids and old men up, intentionally. No wonder we don't settle our 'Rez' issues, that would be admitting we ****ed up and need to change.

True or false? All nations would be 'acceptable' if they adhered to UN children's rights standards (the least able to defend themselves), yet anytime Canada or our friends get pissed at somebody we do things that ultimately affect those same children Canada says it is protecting. Grow the fuk up. Perhaps you should cut back on whatever it is that is impairing you rationality.

Test question, in a book, a really big book, if it says some survive in one place and in another place it says nobody survives, is the book ****ed up or is it referencing two different groups? 10 seconds and the clock is running, ..............

Sorry I thought this was the Bahrain thread.

Sheila Lyall Grant, wife of Britain's UN Ambassador and Huberta von Voss-Wittig, wife of Germany's UN Ambassador Peter Wittig, on Tuesday created a video clip and posted it on the Youtube, targeting Syria's first lady with the online appeal to "stop your husband" in what they called the “yearlong bid to quash a popular uprising that has left thousands dead”, British media reported.

Analysts believed that the western diplomats have resorted to this dirty tricky game out of despair after they failed to defeat Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
..
.
From what’s shown in the video it’s clear that the creators want to psychologically influence the Syrian first lady and her relatives. It contains explicit footage of injured and dying children, and tells her "these children could all be your children". It urges Mrs Assad to "stand up for peace", and asks "what happened to you, Asma?"

The creators of the clip and their backers failed to refer to armed terror gangs that have killed or injured thousands of Syrian armed forces as well as hundreds of civilians in the more than one year old crisis the same western countries have helped to inflict damages on the Arab country.

Isn't this from a 1930's play-book from just about the time loans were up for 'collection from a broke people'? Summarize what happened after that?

Last time I think of Hilary as Wendy the good witch of the north.

(in part)
The United States has once again confirmed that it is assisting Syrian armed opposition groups to overthrow the government of President Bashar al-Assad, Press TV reports.

“The United States is providing communications and logistics and other support for the opposition,” said US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton a meeting of NATO foreign and defense ministers in the Belgian capital Brussels on Wednesday.
