One eye alone gives you 160° by 135°. If you cut your field to less than half of what it should be, that would mean you have no peripheral vision, that is tunnel vision.

I keep both eyes open, until the bittersweet moment. Then my right eye is fixed on the vitals.

Just to add some more fuel to the fire:

Book tells Muslim men how to beat and control their wives
By Terry Davidson, QMI Agency

TORONTO - A local bookstore has “sold out” of a controversial marriage guide that advises Muslim men on how to beat their wives.

The 160-page book, published by Idara Impex in New Delhi, India, is written by Hazrat Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi, who’s described in the book’s foreword as a “prolific writer on almost every topic of Islamic learning.”

The store’s manager, who didn’t give his name, said the book had been sold out for some time, and the store’s owner, whom the manager identified as Shamim
Ahmad, refused to comment for the story.

Sold out! Delightful. Personally I don't give a damn whether this is representative of some small group within a larger religious group or simply some cultural 'norm' that twists itself around a holy book, but this **** will not fly!

Well, I don't mind telling you that I'm kinda curious about the contents... I'm wondering if the sage advice in the pages includes helpful tips like stretching before the event, not forgetting to follow through and perhaps not forgetting to wear the requisite muscle shirt to show-off the abusers hairy back.

Well it apparently does discuss the 'rights' of the husband, how the wife is not allowed to leave the home without permission, and that he may beat her by the hand or the stick.

I've heard a little about this book - pretty sordid and reminiscent or the trailer-park myths that abound.

I'm guessing that the North American sequel will focus on how to confound the police and legal system in order to get away with this epic stupidity.

Sorry to ruin breaky.... Mind you, double-check the croissant that you get from the bakery next door - those kitchens get really hot, sometimes too hot for a shirt

Yes, quite the startling contrast in attitudes.

Wish someone would take me out for breakfast. Sigh, shredded wheat it is....after the mental image dissolves, Lol.

Oh no doubt. Do not for a second think that had that book or one similar been published and sold out within any other religious and/or cultural group I wouldn't be just as enraged and disgusted by it. I could really care less about the background or religious views of the author or of those purchasing it. It is a repulsive aspect of any culture.

LOL. Just kidding, sort of.

But yeah, some words do evoke images that can be a real mood killer sometimes.

We aren't living in the 1500's a digital telescope would be the best instrument to use these day, clarity in minute detail and wide angle-view, oh yeah, that's why that method is shunned, too clear and the wide views exposes the old shadow players.

Some people here believe in the old adage "spare the rod, spoil the child". I guess some believe their kids are their own personal property and some believe their wives are.

People adopt lifelong outlooks by seeing is believing or led by example. In a husband/wife team one would always be better suited to some tasks than the other. In older days the stronger one might be the hunter because he could carry more back. In leaner times the weaker one might be smaller and that would allow them to sneak up or climb higher or whatever. Working in tandem will give them the best chance to survive and protect any children they might produce. Without outside influence the sons and daughters should grow up to be just like their gender based parent.

Today a smarter child would only be possible if the smartest parent was the one who spent 24/7 with the child and the l4ess smart one would have to be the bread-winner if the welfare of the child was the highest priority.

Uh huh, great. Well, now that you've "illuminated" us all on what others believe, how about taking the time to actually comment on what you think about the article or just the topic in general.

Given the energy he put into defending his right to hit women, and the fact that he openly admitted that his wife has made allegations of abuse at his hands.

My guess is, he's busy looking for a copy on Amazon.

So straight forward responses are way too much to hope for, is that what you're saying? Hmmm, I suspected as much.

E-Bay according to the article, that is until the store restocks.

Funny that is.

Oh, I think he KNOWS who the weak one is, just doesn't have the balls to man up. He continually whines about the older generation who has made life so tough for him. He doesn't know what tough is, judging by the amount of time he claims to spend on the golf course.

Startling actually. I even sent off a couple PM's to clarify if they were in error. They weren't, and I was outright told to keep up the good work.

No offence JLM, but you remind me of the old guys that hang around the local Timmy's and garage. Just out to shoot the sh!t with friends and acquaintances. It's the sole reason I stopped being so hard on you.
