The Samoans lost a day and it has to do with business dealings with New Zealand and Australia.

So how is it a bad deal to be in the same day as the folks with whom you trade? Now they have a five-day market week

ETA: Birthdays and anniversaries will happen again next year. It's not like they have to wait four years between them.

Considering the fact that the dateline is an artificial construct that was made by someone else, where is the problem?
