The Vancouver Police Department announced Monday it is recommending 163 charges against 60 people stemming from the Stanley Cup riot of June 15, 2011.
“This is just the beginning,” said Chief Const. Jim Chu.
We will post the charges here as we learn of them. The names of those charged may not be immediately available, but we will update when they are.
Fifty men and 10 women comprise the first 60 people police will be seeking to charge. They range in age from 16 to 52. The 60 include 21 people from Surrey, 12 from Vancouver and nine from Burnaby. The three most popular charges are participating in a riot, mischief and break-and-enter. At least one individual is to be charged with 10 offences.
