Wikileaks said that it would focus instead on raising funds to ensure its future survival.
The announcement came after what the group called a blockade by US-based finance companies.
This followed its disclosure on the internet of hundreds of thousands of secret US government files and diplomatic cables.
Wikileaks founder Julian Assange said that since last December an "arbitrary and unlawful financial blockade" had been imposed by Bank of America, Visa, MasterCard, PayPal and Western Union.
"The attack has destroyed 95% of our revenue," he said.

Well if they're not going to release anymore classified documents and instead try to raise their funding..... wait.... I'm confused.....

Why would anybody donate funds for their web site in the first place if it no longer does anything? :?

Visa, Mastercard and Paypal, as private corporations are under no obligation to do business with anyone they don't want to do business with. The fact that Assange and Wikileaks are skirting, if not outright breaking numerous laws with regards to the information they obtain and release, could put those companies that provide funding to them in precarious legal position, under laws that were put in place to restrict money transfers and laundering to other illegal enterprises, and thus it makes sense that the boards of those corporations would NOT want to do business with Assange, to protect their shareholders.

Well then it's time to change those laws to favour freedom of information over business security.
