“Harper has been a great friend to Canada’s Jewish community as well as an outspoken supporter of Israeli positions in the international political arena… saying last year, ‘When Israel, the only country in the world whose very existence is under attack, is consistently and conspicuously singled out for condemnation, I believe we are morally obligated to take a stand.’”
That's one of the reasons I vote Conservative!
Colpy, did you ever read the book 1984, about how after people get beat up by Big Brother they'll turn into it's biggest advocate, sitting in special cafes with their broken noses and drinking gin flavored with cloves while professing love? The author had an early insight into what is now called the Swedish Hostage syndrome.
So when did you get beat up by Big Brother?
And what would Harper say if Quebecois got gutsy enough to take on the financial responsibility of managing a large, yet smaller, economy?
You see, the thing is, I as an Anglo who can't speak one whit of French did bother to study the history. I mean, come on... you can't have seven million people screaming without getting curious.
Turns out they're right.
Currently we have a Canadian-only form of social peace-treaty best articulated by Harper's statement that Quebec is a Sovereign Society within a United Canada, and those with brains would see how adaptation of that attitude unto the United Nations might stop a lot of idiotically expensive military-crap operations from happening when the same amount of money spent on agricultural research to make crops capable of feeding people under climate change would be cheaper and more effective towards making peace, given how people tend to get belligerent only when they are hungry, so if you want to gripe about high taxes, how about looking at how it's spent?
Which leads me to say to you Colpy, ever notice how the line between left and right was drawn wrong? That it should have been between 9:00 and 3:00, such that on the upper half are the good lefties and the good righties, and underneath are the bad lefties and the bad righties?
On the lower right quadrant is Hitler, and on the lower left quadrant is Stalin.
You think the division between good and bad is drawn from 12:00 to 6:00???
