No one expected the day to come, but hair-metal icons Van Halen are getting back together with lead singer David Lee Roth.

While searches for Van Halen 'jumped' 209 per cent as news broke of their reunion, other bands decided to follow suit and dust off their guitars (up 381 per cent). Here's a recap (or maybe that should be, a 'rock-cap'):

After breaking up 23 years ago, Sting and the boys will perform as the Police at next week's Grammy Awards. Rumour has it the band is also preparing for a world tour.

Political rap-rockers Rage Against the Machine are also set to take the stage at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California (one of this week's breakout search terms). But don't get too excited, they're only playing one show (oh, the rage!).

And it sounds like Phil Collins will temporarily stop making soundtracks for Disney (maybe a good thing) as Genesis is also planning a comeback, albeit without Peter Gabriel.

Finally, 90s alt-rockers the Smashing Pumpkins are in the middle of recording a new album, but no one really knows who's in the band - not even them.[/SIZE]
