This wasn't due to a hot soundtrack.
A passenger aboard a flight from Beijing to Melbourne awoke to a burning sensation on her face when her headphones apparently sparked and triggered a small fire, according to a press release by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.
The unidentified woman, who suffered burns to her face and hands, says she was startled by an explosion.
“As I went to turn around I felt burning on my face,” the woman said. “I just grabbed my face which caused the headphones to go around my neck.
"I continued to feel burning so I grabbed them off and threw them on the floor. They were sparking and had small amounts of fire."
As the woman attempted to put out the smoldering appliance by stomping on it, flight attendants arrived with a bucket of water. The headphones were placed in the bucket at the rear of the aircraft while its battery and cover were melted to the floor.
“People were coughing and choking the entire way home" due to smells of melted plastic, burnt electronics and singed hair, the woman added.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau believes the batteries likely caught on fire.
It's not the first time electronics have caught fire (external - login to view) in recent months.
Many airlines have banned passengers from carrying the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone after multiple reported incidents of the devices catching fire.
The incidents caused Samsung to put out a worldwide recall for the phone.

What does where something is bought have to do with where it was made?
