I'd only heard of Status Quo when i started to listen to the Vintage Music Channel (which is British based) on my Cable. They play them all the time. I might have heard of them before, but they didn't leave a memorable impression. However, RIP. The Rockers of the late 60s and early 70s, the greatest period of the genre, are all falling away now.. we've lost a lot in the last while.

And status is pronounced the British way, not the American way - with the "A" pronounced like the "A" in "ape" and not the "A" in "at".

As for the band, they were fairly big in the Seventies, but only truly hit the big time with Band Aid in 1984.

Their brand of music is called "boogie woogie rock."

Status Quo - "Mean Girl" (1971)

Hard to argue with that.

The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Status Quo, T-Rex etc.

What have we got now? Little Mix, One Direction and Justin Bieber.
