Basically opening the phone and doing anything to it will void the manufacturer's warranty, in the case of the Razr it's one year. So don't do it if you need your phone fixed - ever.

I work for a Rogers cell dealer in Thunder Bay, and I've seen our techs reject many a phones for repairs because they've been tampered with - especially Motorola phones, which specialized Moto. techs must check in addition to the company techs.

yep I completly agree, I've seen techy's do the same with PC's where I work, thats why you should always read the smallprint, it's ingenious really, most electrical stuff, when you have a warranty, it only ever warrants them upgrading of fixing it, otherwise your stuffed.

it's kinda like buying a house and being told the only people who can fix it are the original house builders, unfortunatly theyve got you over a barrel. And as I say, in some cases I've seen the company sue the person who's unloacked their phone (because if it's a contract or evn pay as you go....it is still their phone, no matter how much you put on it, and thats usually the small print)

No need for bolts and screws to unlock your Motorola V3 Razr or most other phones for that matter.

There is no "unlocking" with P2K

if you backed them up you can always restore them

but if it is a hardware problem then it really doesn't matter what is in the memory, and no where does it say you can't copy images, ringtones/music, or every java game that ever existed on to your phone. (well other than space limitations.)

If you did a physical mod (changed the back light of the keys) or something like that, than you might want to change that back, althoughI have never really heard of such a thing for the V3

What do you mean by *space limitation??*....i deleted all the ringtunes, pictures that came with the phone....do i need to put those back before i send my phone in to get it fix??....and would MOTOROLA void my warrenty if i put a new *skin* on it????

space limitation as in 40 MB of space available to the end user (that's you).

All I was saying is that you can't copy more ringtones and images on to the phone than the phone has space for.

No you don't have to restore the ringtones, you can delete them using the software on the cell phone, same with "backgrounds" and videos.

if you changed the actual "icons" then you might want to change them back, because I don't know if any downloadable skins have new icon designs, but even they shouldn't matter.

If it is a hardware problem then they won't care what you have added or deleted (unless you have been messing with the ROM, like changing non-user accessible settings using the HEX editor).

What is the problem with the phone?

The problem with my phone is that theres always *buzzing* sound near the keypad when i talk on the phone....and when i have my motorola headset connected to my phone...it seems the person talking to me is so far away...

The backgrounds, ringtunes...are the ones that have a locked icon beside it....i had to use P2K to delete them....

I got the RAZR V3...From 7.4mb to 9.4mb using P2K....i unno if that is *void-ing the warrenty....*...that wont count as a modification...right???
