though it was introduced a while ago, i thought i would impart some details to the service

Bell Canada today announced Bell Mobility has launched "10-4," its wireless walkie talkie-style service that delivers virtually instant communication between users with the push of a button, and without long distance charges. With 10-4, a wireless handset works as both a walkie-talkie and a traditional cell phone. Bell Mobility's 10-4 service is unique in supporting advanced data services, like messaging, gaming and mobile Internet browsing on the most feature-rich CDMA-based push to talk (PTT) handsets available in Canada. Additionally, up to five Bell Mobility 10-4 subscribers can speak with each other at one time, anywhere across the Bell Mobility IX digital network, or on the Sprint network in the U.S.

as per http://nabandwidthnews.blogware.com/...22/463662.html

Interesting that Bell and Rogers are introducing PTT service, which has been under monopoly by TELUS Mike for many years. While Mike is mostly for Business clients, it would appear Bell's 10-4 and Rogers’s service, which hasn’t been introduced yet, is marketed to regular cellfone users. It is important to note that if you have Bell 10-4 service using the Sanyo 7300 u CANNOT contact Mike clients with PTT only other Bell customers on 10-4 which are few and far between. it's doubtful that this service will become popular as it is expensive and unnecessary other than for business. Also the Sanyo is one hideously crappy looking phone, it looks like something out of a bad science fiction movie.

I think that if Rogers really bringing out the PTT, it will be kick @ss. The reason is being the biggest digital coverage in Canada. We all know that Bell has a coverage comparable to Rogers only if includes Bell's analog Coverage. And analog does NOT have PTT function, (analog is only for phones calls, even Call id wont' work).

my $0.02

Just for your information gentelman. Telus Mobility has had the Mike service that is the ORIGINAL Dirrect Connect technology that has been around since 1996. And if you want i nstant communication well Mike is the best way to go. It is litterally instant with absolutley no waiting, unlike Bell's 10-4 that has an average of a 4-6 second delay.

Secondly Telus Mobility was the 1st one to comeout with the PTT on their digital network and yes, it is much faster than BellMobility's with an average of 2-3 second delay.

Beforte you post information about Wireless communications, you should do some research and make sure you post the proper information.

Respectfully.

PS. These are not my $0,02, these are actual facts.
