In the last few weeks,a local Morning Radio Show host and an area psychiatrist have been charged with possession of many images of children of a sexual nature.Both have lost their jobs and are awaiting trial . This is an addiction that I'll never understand
Also,the intelligence of those involved is in question as they both had this garbage on their harddrives and were found when their machines went in for repairs.I am glad they were caught,but was wondering if the repair facilities have a duty to report findings like this. If not,perhaps there should be a law for this.

Absolutely. I fully agree. Crimes of this nature are unacceptable, and as a law abiding person, it is the duty of the individual repairing the computer to report any images of child porn of any kind.
I wish the worst of fate to those in posession of child porn. Anyone who would exploit the vunerability of our children in this tasteless and mentally disturbing way, deserve a long and painfull punishment.

Before someone calls me out on this: I did defend a friend who was involved with kiddie porn,but he was practically a paraplygic[and all he could do was look!] These two individuals mentioned in the above are well able to act out their sick fantasys[and may have!] My friend was just a lonely gay man with an interest in young boys.

This is a fairly common bust but there are two things I don't understand: with the publicity attendant such busts why you would send a machine in that was contaminated; the second is why would a computer 'repairman' be looking though your personal files? There is hysteria on this issue abroad in the land but I remain convinced the vast majority of such porn is created by children - no other segment in our society is as technologically savvy and technically equipped and so defiant of authority - to share with their buddies and the law feels helpless to deal with this embarrassing conundrum.

This is an old topic
from last Sept., but it is heartening to see that at least some of these child porn creeps are stupid enough to send their computer out to the computer tech when the H.D. was full of this garbage.

I read that one. The accused is 21 and a product of the Internet Age. From what I read he did indeed coerce compliance. But I think it's obvious too he coerced, threatened and blackmailed only after piggybacking on what they were already willing to do for their friends. The phuck buddy syndrome has been a major movement and Internet phenomenon for some years now amongst teens. Hamilton broke a case last year where somebody suddenly out of the club began posting their webcam tapes. I know several parents in the immediate neighbourhood and my brother-in-law who have done the right thing: No webcams. The kids are abusing them.

dennis melanson is the guy your looking for.He's the talkshow host who had pthc on his comp.it really is a shame too cause i enjoyed his show on channel 10 and thought he had good topics for the province to discuss every friday at 9pm.But now I would like nothing more then to beat and maime him to death along with that half paraplygic u mentioned

About once per week,it seems the cops are nabbing some creep in this province with either luring some child into a sexual situation or being part of an international kiddie porn ring. My original post referred to Dan Reid ,at that time he was the most popular morning man on local radio.Melanson was the one who was "just researching the topic for an upcoming show" and not working for Rogers at the time. Yeah!
