Sure, you could just drink tap water. But for only $53 a bottle, you can drink water drained from an Newfoundland iceberg.
A high-end Belfast hotel has introduced a new menu of exclusive waters, and has even hired a water sommelier to help their guests navigate the, er, waters.
The most expensive bottle is from the floating Canadian glacier.
According to finewaters.com, Iceberg, Still is "a unique soft water" with an awe-factor: "Isolation has made its source totally inaccessible to man. It is not until massive pieces of ice break off into the ocean in the form of icebergs that they can be harvested."
Other waters "harvested" and now offered by the Merchant Hotel include samplings from the Fiji rainforest, an Italian spring and a Canadian sap water (which is just maple sap -- the stuff that's supposed to boil down and poured on your pancakes).
The Belfast hotel has had to deal with a little ribbing since launching its water menu, but Michael Tanousis of Aqua Amore, a water importer who is supplying the restaurant, defended the idea.
"We live in a sophisticated society which gives people the opportunity to spend their money as they see fit," he told the Daily Mail U.K.
The hotel says its guests can still order a glass of Belfast tap water if they wish. On the house.
