Well it didn't look quite like the picture but I had a GMC half-ton that I decided would be just perfect for hauling back some soil out of a farmers field....to my hacienda where I was building flower and herb gardens.....
Man did I get stuck...and yes becasue I had no idea that that little bit of earth weighed as much as it did...!
I had to get towed out and on a Sunday!
Walked three or four miles to a house to find out that the folk who lived there were Mormon and didn't have telephones (or much of anything "convenient") but who directed me to a farm down the road that did....
Got a swell old grandfather from a small town garage out for a Sunday drive with his grandson who appreciated the opportunity to demonstrate his craft for the youngster ...and didn't charge me a dime!
