a single well to do mother is told by her 16 year old daughter that she wants to pierce:
** her nose
** her tongue
** her nipples
** her navel
** her clitoris...
..........................Then you find out that she already has.
this is for the fair ladies (or men if you so choose) in our community, so what would you do?

I'd take her to a doctor immediately to discuss the risk of complication from infection of a clitoral piercing, and ask her to please have that one removed for the sake of her sexual health.
edited to add... this also has the bonus of hopefully being able to repair any nerve damage that may have resulted, before it is made permanent by scarring.

Ive always wanted to get another one, but I work on a mine and they wont allow it.

I had my eyebrow pierced, it slightly tore when I jumped into a swimming pool and became infected, it was a dog bone style stud and the ball wouldn't twist off so I got a pair of pliers and ripped the piercing out

We have raised our children to believe that they are free to make decisions regarding their appearance on the foundation of "freedom of expression"....as mitigated by the fashion and cosmetics industries....
I've never understood the desire among cultures that didn't have a history of physical adornment like tattoos and piercings as maturational milestones and religious symbols but then I remember that western cultures...are all about money and the dog-and-pony-show mentality. Beyond concerns about infection and permanent disfigurement...(echoing Karrie's sentiments) I don't really care.

Considering some of the current fads in adornment (burning, removal of skin, tattooing), I'd consider myself lucky if my child came home with just piercings (aside from the risk posed by the clitoral one). They're easily removed and leave little trace compared to some of the other options.

It get's removed...she's grounded..at least..because she KNOWS that we have discussed this and agreed that peircings don't happen untill she is at least 18 years old.
