I'm not nuts about going. I think some people make a career out of attending the funerals of everyone they have ever known even if only slightly.

I have never personally been invited either. But, I thought a funeral was something one attends in order to show respect and support to the grieving family and to honour the life of the deceased.
I'm not certain anyone gets invited but just kind of shows up.

You don't get invited to a funeral, you go to one when you want to pay your respects or support the family (or if you are family).
I've been to several funerals for family members but have also had to miss some that I probably should have gone to.
