Picked up a few pleasing sauces the past few months these have come out on top.

Sambel Asli-Indonesian blend of Chile, Garlic, Salt & Vinegar doesn't sound all that exciting but really hits the spot.

Chatak Trinidad Lime Sauce-a classic Trinidadian blend just outstanding combo of Peppers, Lime Juice & Salt perfectly balanced-there's a certain zing to Trinidadian cooking that's embodied in this stellar product.

Ate some of both with Halibut chunks rolled in Blue Corn flour & deep fried tonight-very satisfying and a wonderful treat before swimming.

Sambel is one of my fave condiments. Farmers' markets are a great spot to pick some up. Rooster brand makes a great sambel. A perfect accompaniment for so many dishes

Oh good.

Never heard of them though. Online or specialty stores?

This was my first favorite.

I know it wouldn't be the same brand, but, every single grocery store I've ever shopped at carries Rooster brand sambel

I love the many varieties if hot sauces available in the markets today - but NOTHING beats home cooking. And that defo includes home made hot sauce.

Our fave storebought hot sauce -

Tried Frank's hot sauce and wasn't impressed. Same for Tobasco, green or red. Sambel Asli is good, I agree. Never tried Trappey's. Can't remember ever even seeing it. Blair's hot sauces are pretty damn good, too. But we have them all beat. It's the hot sauce from our own kitchen using our own peppers grown in our own garden. :D

Levi Roots' appearance on a 2007 episode of the British Dragons' Den was one of the most successful ever, with the Londoner - a reggae singer and now celebrity chef - appearing with his Reggae Reggae Sauce. He convinced Peter Jones and Richard Farleigh to invest £50,000 in return for 40% of his company. Initially the sauce was carried exclusively in Sainsbury's supermarkets, but now many supermarkets in the UK and Ireland stock the sauce. A follow-up episode of Dragons' Den, aired on 18 July 2007, revealed that Sainsbury's had expected the sauce to sell 50,000 bottles in its first year. In fact it sold 40,000-50,000 bottles per WEEK. It is one of the show's most successful products, and Roots now wants to expand into Poland.

His Reggae Reggae Sauce comes in many flavours, including X Hot, and British supermarkets even sell food, such as chicken, flavoured with Reggae Reggae Sauce.

There are even Reggae Reggae Sauce foodstalls dotted around the country now.
