It has been said you never get a second chance to make a first impression! Before subscribing to this site I carefully read the prospectus and rules and regulations concerning this site and found that I was curious enough to join. I may be new to this site but I am not new to forums. Imagine my shock to find the first post I read "you were behind me" to be vulgar, obnoxious and distasteful. I quickly found the posted rules and regulations to verify if I was mistaken on decorum. Much to my chagrin I found the same person who posted the rules was the first to reply to this guttural tirade.
Upon reading further postings I found that, although some posts were questionable in their merits, the responses were immature, denigrative and inconsequential. It seemed as if the point of the original post was used only as an opportunity to open mouth and change feet. Is there an award given for the most insulting response? It is not abstruse to ciscern the bullies and teacher's pets in this sand box.
I am under the obviously misconstrued impression that a forum is a place for intelligent discourse between adults not an on line version of Jerry Springer

Lennie

Welcome!

It depends on a lot of things. How passionate the individual feels about the topical content, how comfortable they are with insulting other people.....a particular "personna" being projected to reinforce some cyber-character....who knows?

There's no need for insult and derogatory remarks, you're absolutely right...but then people will be people and there wouldn't be cops if we were all prepared to follow the rules!

Hope you enjoy participating!

I have two orders of business regarding Lennie. Let me begin by citing a range of examples from the public sphere. For starters, Lennie maintains that newspapers should report only on items he agrees with. Perhaps it would be best for him to awaken from his delusional, narcoleptic fantasyland and observe that he should just exercise some common sense and some common decency. To say anything else would be a lie.

It may seem difficult at first to hold Lennie responsible for the hatred he so furtively expresses. It is. But by allowing Lennie to infiltrate the media with the express purpose of disseminating soulless information we are selling our souls for dross. Instead, we should be striving to communicate and teach.

I want my life to count. I want to be part of something significant and lasting. I want to fight Lennie hammer and tong. I would like to give you an example of how perfidious he can be. Lennie has admitted that he intends to supply the chains that bind the individual to notions of self-loathing and unworthiness. Okay, that may have been a particularly bald-faced and unsubtle example but Lennie reads magazines that feature the disrespect, degradation, dehumanization, and exploitation of women and their bodies. Well, that's getting away from my main topic, which is that I should note that I am not a robot. I am a thinking, feeling, human being. As such, I get teary-eyed whenever I see Lennie throw away our freedom, our honor, and our future. It makes me want to clarify and correct some of the inaccuracies present in his obloquies, which is why I'm so eager to tell you that I admit I have a tendency to become a bit insensitive whenever I rebuke Lennie for trying to popularize a genre of music whose graphic lyrics explicitly urge the most insensitive tightwads you'll ever see to inaugurate an era of rude libertinism. While I am desirous of mending this tiny personality flaw, when Lennie says that we can all live together happily without laws, like the members of some 1960s-style dope-smoking commune, in his mind, that's supposed to end the argument. It's like he believes he has said something very profound.

That's all for this letter. For those that don't like my views, get over it. I suspect that I have as much a right to my views, and to express them, as anyone else. So when I say that it is a sad state of affairs when homophobic scoundrels like Lennie pit race against race, religion against religion, and country against country, you can agree with me or not. That's all there is to it.

First off all, you are a jackass.

Secondly, if you don't like the material posted here, beat it.

Lastly, where in this site does it state the forums are for uptight phoney intellectuals like your self? Take your fancy words elsewhere.

Edit. Who the hell talks like that anyways? Yikes

Yeah I buy that!

I must have missed the content you're talking about or I may have contributed a similar sentiment....

I don't read everything written here at CC and although I can tolerate some off-color rhetoric, that's just me.We have to be able to ascertain for ourselves if some content is so disturbing that we can't take it....or we can just leave.

It's as easy as switching the channel.

I just thought that Lennie would be the perfect candidate for this: http://www.pakin.org/complaint

Pretty handy, and can often make the person its about waste time out of their lives reading it, that they can never get back.

Sorry, here is a more gender specific complaint:

Lennie Smartierthanyoupants thinks that she's the best thing to come along since the invention of sliced bread. Unfortunately for her, she's wrong. But first, let me pose you a question: Is she actually concerned about any of us or does she just want to guarantee the destruction of anything that looks like a vital community? After reading this letter, you'll indeed find it's the latter. Easy as it may seem to provide some balance to her one-sided lamentations, it is far more difficult to admonish her not seven times, but seventy times seven. In asserting that it is better that a hundred thousand people should perish than that she should be even slightly inconvenienced, Lennie demonstrates an astounding narrowness of vision. We will have to become much more vigilant to ensure that she doesn't concoct a version of reality that fully contradicts real life.

Although the Gospel According to Lennie says that national-security interests can and should be sidestepped whenever Lennie's personal interests are at stake, I think that when one looks at the increasing influence of Pyrrhonism in our culture one sees that Lennie's signature is on everything. So how come her fingerprints are nowhere to be found? The answer may surprise you, especially when you consider that Lennie motivates people to join her polity by using words like "humanity", "compassion", and "unity". This is a great deception. What Lennie really wants to do is muzzle her critics. That's why Lennie will redefine humanity as alienated machines/beasts and then convince everyone that they were never human to begin with because she possesses a hatred that defies all logic and understanding, that cannot be quantified or reasoned away, and that savagely possesses unrestrained, boisterous desperados with malodorous and uncontrollable rage. Given the range and unpredictability of human behavior, it is quite possible that from the perspective of those inside Lennie's army of peevish authoritarians, Lennie is a refined lady with the soundest education and morals you can imagine. The reality, however, is that if she succeeds in her attempt to hinder economic growth and job creation, it'll have to be over my dead body.

As will become apparent sometime soon, if we don't advocate social change through dialogue, passive resistance, and nonviolence, our children will curse us in our graves. Speaking of our children, we need to teach them diligently that Lennie clearly believes that "the truth", "the whole truth", and "nothing but the truth" are three different things. What kind of Humpty-Dumpty world is she living in? While I don't know the answer to that particular question, I do know that her underlings all look like her, think like her, act like her, and encourage women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become demonic dorks, just like Lennie does. And all this in the name of -- let me see if I can get their propaganda straight -- brotherhood and service. Ha! Let me end by saying that I know that what I have written in this letter will send many readers (especially any who are big fans of Lennie Smartierthanyoupants) into a tizzy or a tantrum. I am sorry, but I remind them that Lennie has vanity without pride, voluptuousness without taste, and learning without wisdom.

Well, since I have been educated in noticing phoney people like your self, I would say you are a failure on all accounts.

You must have a lonely existence if that is how you speak, since most people would probably ignore you after a sentence.

Well I would like to welcome you to CC, but first I would want to know exactly whom it is that I'm welcoming. It appears that a specific Canadian Content Forums rule may have missed your perusal. It is against forum policy to have more than one user account here. If you are sharing a household or computer with another member here, please make this apparent upon your next visit here - otherwise one or both accounts may be terminated.

Secondly, since you have taken exception to the same person on this forum - namely myself - in both identities coming from your IP, I will again encourage you to bring your concerns directly to myself or the site owner, Andem, rather than boring the rest of the membership with them.

Thirdly... your research upon this site's expectations regarding decorum has resulted in you also missing a rather significant feature of this site: we have forum rules that apply to all of the main forums, which you say you have read in spite of missing the multiple account rule. In addition to the main forums however, we also have a few 'members only' areas where the rules are a bit relaxed. One of these areas is called Wreck Beach, with a sub-forum called The Steel Cage. Had you not been logged in as a member here, you would not have been able to see those posts.

I encourage you to read the rules pertaining to these areas as they may help you understand why members post differently in one forum than another.

The rules for Wreck Beach
The rules for the Steel Cage

As you said you only get one chance to make a first impression. Are you happy with the one you've made here... twice?

For the time being yes it is a household computer. I was not attacking you per say, I was questioning the language of the very first post I read. If there is such a forum for this type of post why was it on the first page of the home forum for those who object to such language to see it and not where only those who want to see it could? Having worked my way through school as a bar tender in a biker bar I am not unfamiliar with such language, however I find it unnecessary in everyday conversation. Please accept my apologies if I offended you. It was not my intent.

Of course, because afterwards it's a second impression.... just like when you're looking for something, it's always in the last place you look, because you stop looking after you find it

Well first off, you read a thread in Wreck Beach which is sorta an open ended place for members to vent their frustrations. Secondly, Nuggler was venting about a personal thing that happened to him earlier in the day which frustrated him. As you could understand, this happens to everybody. And sometimes people just need to express their frustrations about some of the stupid things people do.

However, I figured I'd respond in light to help with some of that frustration, as he should have been aware that I wasn't the person in the car he was complaining about.... that was the joke.

On the flip side, you will see a few threads here and there which can turn heated due to mixed and/or conflicting opinions.... that happens. So long as it doesn't stoop to personal insults and calling out yo mama here and there, if someone is, as you say "Mature" then they should be mature enough to take a little attitude once in a while, within reason of course.

There.... I'm not such an arsehole now am I?

Naw, I'm a jerk what can I say. Welcome.

Added:

Ooooohhh...... "You were Behind Me" - I thought you said "You were in Front of Me" thread. My mistake. Forget everything I said.
