Hi All:
I've been running a couple of blogs for over a year and find it to be very rare for anyone to reply to a post, so I thought I might find more responses here.
My political/social blog is under the name Trailowner, and on blogger. (Can I post the whole link here without being electronically swatted down? It's trailowner.blogspot.com without the html.) I have used it largely as a rant site, whenever something has happened/been in the news and I've just had to get my own feelings about the topic off my chest.
My full time activity is writing fiction, and if I can avoid being fingered as a spammer, I will 'unobtrusively' announce my successes as they occur. (I have a virtual book tour upcoming in March, but don't take this as a solicitation <grin>).

Was that you up on the hill yesterday watching me running the dogs? Had a run-in with four of your buddies there last Spring.
Seriously, how do you pursue writing fiction? It's hard to get anywhere without a network of critiquers and knowledgeable writers to learn from. I pointed a couple of members with publishing ambitions on the Alternate History board toward online writing groups last year. Have to admit they never subsequently let me know if they had followed my advice.

Maybe you can tell me why my signature file shows up on the message window when I preview, but isn't there when the message is posted.

Welcome. A regular participant in our forum, announcing when they have something special going on, may get razzed about being a spammer but you're not likely to end up getting in trouble from the mods.

Writing fiction is the easy part. It's finding a publisher who'll take a chance on an unknown. Canada really sucks for that. I was attending regular meets with our local writers guild (Birds of a Feather) until I moved much closer to Sudbury. Critiques and feedback were most welcome. Country Style coffee? Well, we all gotta make sacrifices, eh?

Only one Canadian publisher for spec fiction and Edge's verdict on my fantasy was 'not what they're looking for'. So it's due out with Zumaya in a year's time. The small independents and E-pubs are the only access to the market in Canada -- except Zumaya is now from Texas, having shed the Canadian ownership. My other publisher is Double Dragon, from Markham.

It's much the same reason you probably can't access PM's yet, to keep spammers from posting links and such. I think at about 20 posts it will kick in.
