Hi guys,
Me and my wife will be in Edmonton at December 17th. We will establish a new life. We're originally from Turkey. (I know (and i read) some of you believe that Turkey is a 3rd world country, but believe me we don't use camels for transportation.)
We lived in US for five years and decided to leave. (We have our reasons, like every person in the world.) My wife will work for U of A and I am looking or a job.
Anyway, Canadian Content helped us a lot. Ty everyone.

Did they upgrade the transportation system to horses or rickshaws?

Just kidding. Welcome to Canada.

Welcome to Canadian Content and Edmonton, CCinarbus - I have a co-worker who just spent a month in Turkey and she came back with some absolutely incredible pictures. I was in awe at some of the beautiful scenery and the many mosques, markets, historical sights etc.

I hope Edmonton isn't too much of a shock for you, be ready for a little cold weather.

another (former) member of this forum recently moved to turkey from edmonton. Weird, huh? anyway he's been posting pictures on facebook, and it seems like a fascinating country.

I used to work at the U of A, now i'm living in newfoundland.

Welcome welcome! A new life you shall have too. Though in some ways it's not much different than living in any mid sized American city, there are a few differences that I'm sure you and your family will savor. The mountains will take your breath away as well as the unbridled wilderness that is just a couple hours drive away. And after a winter or two, you like the rest of us Canucks, will dream of some day vacationing in the warm waters of the Mediterranean and taking in the vast array of cultures there. heh heh

Something to experience after you have acclimated to the driving here, is a trip through the mountains to Vancouver. It's not that far really and a two week vacation let's you take your time and enjoy the astounding vistas that can be seen along the way. From the wind swept crags of the Rockies to the vast Pacific Ocean it's sure to please everyone.

Once there, you will find that two weeks is just long enough to understand that you could spend your life exploring the coast and Islands meeting friendly people along the way.

You can make a great life for yourself and you family here if you can work hard, find some common interests with your neighbours and share the best of your cultural traditions with the rest of us.

Welcome aboard mate.

I too have been to Edmonton, in winter, thinking I miss Turkey although I've never been there.

You will like being the Turko-canuck from Alberta by way of USA. You are an essential piece of the Canadian puzzle.
