Im sure there are parts like that. But I found the downtown and university areas to be much better than Saskatoon.
I've lived in both (went to Uof R for a year) and there is just no comparison. Regina isn't actually as bad as I made it out to be, but it isn't even close to Saskatoon. I find Saskatoon to be such a scenic, vibrant, cultural little city with a real grass roots feel to it. There is a real good arts scene as well. That and the fact that you're only a few hours away from some of the most beautiful countryside in Canada, (the northern rivers and lakes) puts it well ahead of Regina.

Sorry to hear that. But hey you're out now right and that's the main thing.
Saskatoon is by far the pick of the litter but it's not really saying much.
Mosquitoes, constant wind, horrendous roads burnt grass and the biggest attraction in town, nothing. The best thing about Regina is the airport where you can get the hell out.

I lived in the north west end near 9th and McIntosh.

Thank you so much, you guys. I am living in China right now. I have a friend who immigrated to Canada four years ago and stayed in Calgary since then. In September this year, he will go to Victoria to continue his study. If I can get the Visa before that, he can rent a place for me, maybe a basement or something.

The only thing accurate in that statement is the mosquitoes, but that certainly isn't unique to Saskatoon. You'll find everywhere in the prairies is like that. I don't feel the need to extol the virtues of Saskatoon, because if you don't know them or recognize them, it's only you're loss.
