as-salamu alaykum, I would like to introduce myself as Palestine87, for being a good friend of a Palestinian brother of mine and for choosing 87 when the first intifada took place. I have just bought this computer and have just started to hook it up and started it going from a neighbor who is moving back to Montreal where i originate from as well. So I would like to say hi and hope to get to know each and every one of C.C. members in the future and have a good working relationship with each and every one of you as I should get to know my fellow Canadians better. Salam ila l-liga.

Cheers ,just establishing my ideal of learning of the cultures that come to Canada.
Immigrants learn our ways and I like to welcome them with a lil bit of their hometown .
We are supposed to be a multiculteral society. I try to make that a 2 way street.
When I was 15 I was not permitted to wear long hair. Vladamir was, much to the angst of his mum. One day out the blue he went for a buzz cut, and I accompanied him. After I had to see his mum's reaction so off we went to his house.
His mum said in Ukranian, and the spelling will be wrong folks."Shlo listht hes dufreuuu"... and they both guffawed.
I asked what she said and he replied i would not understand it..I insisited saying i came here to see her reaction and like you tell me I'm not going to get it....
Ok so he said the literal translation was "Something has died in the woods"
I look at him like he and his mum are nuts and say" you get the haircut she wants and she says ssomething has died in the woods and u both laugh....
After pressing him more here is what it means.Appernetly some modern day ukranians were surprised at my definition which is a whole other story.
Back in the day in the Ukraine a village could be plagued by an animal or animals like wolves or bears in the forest. so the village would be effected for foraging for forest foods like mushrooms and such was big , and still is in their culture.
so like when the bear died and the forset was once again free the whole village would rejoice and say the aboce saying. something has died in the woods...it's a good thing and sometimes a village party would happen.
So vladko getting his hair cut caused his home to celebrate for something had changed.
I realized then what culture was and that it is always about human beings and we can learn from differnt angles.
Religion has come to mean that for me for the more you know about another's belief system the more you learn about yours....why...cause it's always about being human.
