Hi, been lurking for a while and found some really interesting discussions on Alberta
I'm currently living in New Zealand, will move to Edmonton in September. We'll give it 8 months to decide whether it's for us...
See y'all!

The quality of the rugby played there isn't quite as good as it is in Kiwiland but cold hands equals warm hearts as they say.

I have gone and done the opposite. Having recently moved from Saskatchewan to Australia (Perth). It was the best thing I could have done.

I'll worn you now it is a huge move to do and I guarrantee you will have second thoughts once you have done it. Stick with it. It has been six months for me and I'm adjusting quite well.

Good Luck!

Hi Kiwicat, welcome to Canadian Content, from another Edmontonian. We have our good points here, but it's sure hard to imagine anyone wanting to leave such a gorgeous country as New Zealand. What don't you like about it there?

Hi Zan, thanks for the welcome. My friends and family are all in Europe, and NZ is just too far away from everything. Nice landscape cannot offset that. We came here for work, so are not attached to anything. We are strangers here and will be strangers in Canada. I don't see leaving here as a big deal, I am actually looking forward to the change and new experience.

Kiwicat

Be honest the only reason you are moving to Edmonton is for the overabundance of jobs.

In Edmonton the streets are paved with gold and the only time you see it is when the snow melts.

Bring a lot of bug spray because the mosquitoes will eat you alive.

Most people from down under move to Vancouver or Victoria in BC.

The weather is not that bad and one thing you have to remember about Edmonton is that there are a lot of rednecks there and there are good people there as well and those people are transplants from Ontario.

A redneck is like Mel Gibson without the accent.

If you don't die in the first winter then Edmonton is for you.

Gd-day
