Hi everyone out there or on here...
My name is Pemmican and I'm looking forward to becoming part of your community - I'm not from Canada though, I'm a German, but I hope you don't mind *hehe*
I hope you don't mind my crappy English either, I'll try my best to not kill your language...

I'd like to get in touch with people from all over the world, and especially from Canada as Canada has been my dream country for years even though I haven't been there yet... .

Ehm... ok so far, I hope to hear from you - would be great
See y'all around...

-Pemm

Welcome Pemmican. You'll find it's entertaining here, and sometimes far to difficult to tear yourself away.

And yes, you should visit canada. It's glorious!

I'd love to visit Germany one day too.

Anyway, thanks for dropping by, and hope to see you around!

Hi Diamond Sun,

I guess I should discover the board now and see what there is to see *lol*
Cheers

I wouldn't say that I "learned" it - I took it for a few semesters at university, but unfortunately I didn't learn as much as I'd have liked too... I can write a couple of words but I can hardly speak any Dutch though I'm afraid...

But with what purpose did you take Dutch courses? Are you planning to work or live in the Netherlands?

I just like the language, and I like the Netherlands
I'm not planning to work or live there, but actually not that bad of an idea... would definitely be cool!!

Well, I'd rather live in Germany: 1) German people are nicer (I think); 2) Their landscape is nicer; 3) The houses are definitely cheaper!

1) All the Dutch I've met until now were very nice!
2) The Dutch landscape has its nice sites, too - I like your tiny Dutch villages.
3) Really? I don't know what a house costs in the Netherlands, but I was told that the building regulations are much stricter over there... and they are strict already here!

Haha, I've always heard Germans are a bit disappointed when they meet the Dutch, too arrogant, always making lousy jokes about what happened 60 years ago (don't have to explain that one I guess) ... About the prices for houses: a normal row house can cost more than 200,000 euros here. We have an expending population, too little land, so prices are high. Why do you think so many hundreds of thousands of Dutch live just across the border with Belgium and Germany?

Hmm... yeah that might be a point - I thought it was just to see all the Christmas markets here *hehe*
Oh, and: Living closely to the border will allow you getting these yummy Stroopwafels every once in a while *yuuuuuummmy* :P
