Four ambassadors-designate are to present their credentials to Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, C.C., C.M.M., C.O.M., C.D., the Governor General of Canada, tomorrow, at 9:30 a.m.; the presentation is set to take place at Rideau Hall, and is one of the last steps in receiving new ambassadors to Canada.

These persons are to present themselves as ambassadors:
  • His Excellency Getachew Hamussa, the Ambassador-designate of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia
  • His Excellency Werman Baumann, the Ambassador-designate of the Swiss Confederation
  • His Excellency Tomaž Constelj, the Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Slovenia; and
  • His Excellency Ovidio Manual Barbosa Pequeno, the Ambassador-designate of the Democratic Republic of Sau Tome and Principe.
I wish that we would hear more from our Ambassadors, in terms of the thoughts and concerns of other nations, or suggestions that they may have in how to better our own country. I think that our neighbours on the world stage should be more outspoken in their ideas — perhaps they have some thoughts that haven't occurred to anyone here in Canada.
