MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Possessing marijuana, cocaine and even heroin will no longer be a crime in Mexico if they are in small amounts for personal use under new reforms passed by Congress that quickly drew U.S. criticism.

Rather than go to prison I guess they'll just jump the border.

We almost decriminalized having small amounts of pot but there was a bit of pressure from bush and I think it died on the table.

I was always under the impression that even though Canada doesn't have a specific law that says it is legal to possess illegal substances, a person can do it anyway and not get in trouble for it. Especially in Toronto. Is there any validity to that impression? I can only assume that in Mexico it is even worse, due to the nation being extremely corrupt.
