RE: 'Trophy' video expose

Armies have always had trouble controlling their mercenaries. That's part of the reason why using mercenaries is illegal.

Re: 'Trophy' video exposes private security contractors shoo

:D The Rude Pundit had an interesting quip on this type of topic, here's the teaser:

...As others pointed out, the stupidity of the outrage over the Grand Theft Auto sex patch, where your digital man can f*ck a digital prostitute, is magnified when the violence of the game is so relentlessly brutal (yeah, yeah, it's all about the "choices" you make when playing - f*ck you: it's about shootin' sh!t up gangsta-style). But this ain't about content: that's a bullsh!t excuse the conservative right likes to use as a method of believing it's doing something. No, it's about a capitalistic culture that commodifies and fetishizes violence. And, frankly, like competing with your friends to see who gets the most kills on Halo 2, you can bet there's a one-upmanship going on here among soldiers with their digital war porn: "Sh!t, you mean PFC F*ckface got a shot of an exploded stomach? Well, f*ck him, here's one of half a head."...

The full article is under the title of Operation War Porn, just a couple of articles down. It's an amusing read.

Sick and disguesting. The Bush Crime Family bears full responsibility in this. They should all be in prison. Sicko's.

It is set to an Elvis Presley song. sick sick sick

I also bet nothing will come of this either.

Well those guys should be found (if they can) and charge them with multiple counts of attempted murder.

Who hires these "mercenaries" anyways?

I would agree that the perpetrators of this, if it happened, should be tried for multiple murder.

In Iraq.

Bye now. Have a nice hanging.

Now. Explain to me how Bush et al is responsible for murders committed by employees of a private, British corporation.

If it happened.

Always remember Jenin. Wait for confirmation.

Explain to me how Bush et al is responsible for murders committed by employees of a private, British corporation.

Well, you see, Dick Cheney started downsizing the military the last time he worked in the White House. Then he went and worked for Halliburton and got into the business of supplying private contractors to do the work that the military could no longer do for itself. Then he came back into office.

It is US policy to hire private workers, Colpy. In this case they call them "security" because it is illegal under international law to hire mercenaries. "Bush et al", as you put it, are responsible for the policy that hires mercenaries and calls them something else in order to elude and evade international law. Another war crime by the Bush regime.

It's not illegal actually. PMC's ( Mercenary companies) regularly set themselves up to provide protection to oil and diamond corporations in dangerous territory.( Think Executive Outcomes in South Africa, Sandline in Sierra Leone, Blackwater in Iraq) It has the possibility of ending in shit like this, yes, but the act of hiring mercenaries to protect corporate interests or even work in military operations alongside federal military forces is fully allowed by law.

In my opinion, PMC's are a logical and much-needed service, and should be treated as such. They are no more than security companies with extremely high-levels of training. While the people they attract tend to be overly aggressive ( Most PMC's will only hire ex Special Forces personnel, and those people live for combat), the atrocities they may engage in are their personal crimes, not the crimes of the corporation or government that hired them.
