Subject: New Constitution

I've had enough and thought it is time for common sense Bill of Rights.

We The People of the United States

We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, delusional, and other liberal bed-wetters. We hold these truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they require a new Bill of NON-rights.

ARTICLE 1: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything. You must earn luxuries.

ARTICLE 2: You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone--not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc., but the world is full of idiots and probably always will be. Tune out those opinions with which you disagree.

ARTICLE 3: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful. Do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.

ARTICLE 4: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes.

ARTICLE 5: You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in public health care.

ARTICLE 6: You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally main, or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair.

ARTICLE 7: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.

ARTICLE 8: You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful.

ARTICLE 9: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which, by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those who were confused by the Bill of Rights.

ARTICLE 10: This is an English speaking country. We don't care where you are from, English is our language. Learn it or go back to wherever you came from!

ARTICLE 11: You do not have the right to change our country's history or heritage. This country was founded on the belief in one true God. And yet, you are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or not faith at all; with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and history. If you are uncomfortable with it, TOUGH!!!!!!

Sensible people of United States speak out because if you don't, insensible people will

ahemmm ... where do I sign?

Sounds good to me ... but I would add the following to no.7 (in bold format) ...

You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if:
- the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure
- or if we use our right to defend our property with whatever force is necessary.

Well, Durgan, that was a great post.

I think conservatives will applaud you and liberals will agree but will hate to encourage you because it might water down their agenda, an agenda they believe firmly to be right and true.

If a citizen doesn't have the right to change his country's history, I suppose that means that you are all British Colonies. Yes?

Poor quality boloney, not worth the pig's intestines it was stuffed into.

And your history is not worth what was scraped out of said intestine to make room for your baloney.

ARTICLE 11

The motto IN GOD WE TRUST was first placed on United States one cent coins on April 22, 1864, largely because of the increased religious sentiment which existing during the Civil War.

E pluribus unum” (Out of many, one) originally referred to the integration of the 13 independent colonies into one united country but took on an additional meaning, given the pluralistic nature of American society through immigration.

In 1956, as a result of increased religious sentiment during the Cold War "In God We Trust" was added as another national motto, but did not replace “E pluribus unum.”

Every time America finds itself in adversity it must publically remind itself that the invisible man in the sky is on its side.

You got good in depth analysis, GL Schmitt.

If the conservatives get past the partisan wall, and really listen to you, they'll all be better off on some of these issues.

I think the separation of church and state is a fascinating matter especially after my daughter and I hosted a German exchange student this last February.

She lives near below the Schwarzvald, and goes to a gymnasium that specializes in foreign languages, but still follows a dictum of most Deustch gymnasiums of requiring religious history education in grades up to the 13th grade.

Typical of westerner teenagers the western world all over she could give a damn about that course but nevertheless picks up information about our religious historical origins in a taxpayer supported high school.
