The prices are up for gasoline due to refinery capacity, so they say.

Shortages create better conditions for refinery profit margins increases, something they have been demanding lately. And it looks like they got politicians onside to help them in this quest.

Methanol reduced this shortage significantly, so the Northwest USA 'senators' [politicos] agreed to quit the requirement for the "oxygenate" added to gas in the form of methanol. This helped the refineries create sa shortage, and drove up the price for you and me. [Methanol also reduces air pollution -"oxygenate"]

from first link:
Significant events need to occur to assist in reducing supplies and/or increasing the demand for gasoline. One example of a significant event would be the elimination of mandates for oxygenate addition to gasoline. Given a choice, oxygenate usage would go down, and gasoline supplies would go down accordingly. (Much effort is being exerted to see this happen in the Pacific Northwest.)" As a result of such pressure, Washington State eliminated the ethanol mandate - requiring greater quantities of refined supply to fill the gasoline volume occupied by ethanol.

... but, hey, we knew it was all a gouge done on purpose to fund the Iraq war and Bush Friends, so we don't let this bother us, it is just evidence of corporate control and plundering, crimes, etc etc....

PS - Regular gas at $1.20/liter yesterday... 60cents two or three years ago? And all that extra is pure profits for someone - there is absolutely NO ADDED COSTS to producing gasoline in all this increase, so someone is getting the $80Billion extra dollars per year due to the price increase. Elites, stocking up their bank accounts with this, allready have 90% of the worlds wealth locked up.
