Ten Appalling Lies We Were Told About Iraq

By Christopher Scheer

“The Iraqi dictator must not be permitted to threaten America and the world with horrible poisons and diseases and gases and atomic weapons.”—George Bush, Oct. 7, 2002, in a speech in Cincinnati.

There is a small somber box that appears in the New York Times every day. Titled simply, “Killed in Iraq,” it lists the names and military affiliations of those who most recently died on tour of duty. Wednesday’s (June 25) edition listed just one name: Orenthial J. Smith, age 21, of Allendale, South Carolina.

The young, late O.J. Smith was almost certainly named after the legendary running back, Orenthal J. Simpson, before that dashing American hero was charged for a double-murder. Now his namesake has died in far-off Mesopotamia in a noble mission to, as our president put it on March 19, “disarm Iraq, to free its people and to defend the world from grave danger.”

I can give you reference from anywhere that your reasons to invade Iraq were based on lies and greed. Saddam was supported by the US administration for the longest time. Why are you asking these questions now and not during your support of him?

I think the world will be safer without Saddam and Bush in it.

Indeed, even as President Bush castigates Saddam’s regime as “a grave and gathering danger,” it’s important to remember that the United States helped arm Iraq with the very weapons that administration officials are now citing as justification for Saddam’s forcible removal from power.

Analysis of thousands of captured Iraqi secret police documents and
declassified U.S. government documents, as well as interviews with
scores of Kurdish survivors, senior Iraqi defectors and retired U.S.
intelligence officers, show (1) that Iraq carried out the attack on
Halabja, and (2) that the United States, fully aware it was Iraq,
accused Iran, Iraq's enemy in a fierce war, of being partly responsible
for the attack. The State Department instructed its diplomats to say
that Iran was partly to blame.

Since we arrived in Iraq, we have conducted more than 400 inspections covering more than 300 sites. All inspections were performed without notice, and access was almost always provided promptly. In no case have we seen convincing evidence that the Iraqi side knew in advance that the inspectors were coming.

Bush just made the terror threat worse by going into Iraq. "God" only knows what will happen if he goes into Syria or Iraq.

Bush wants the American people terrified and is very good at fear mongering and he does that because he only knows war and can not run the country at home economically. It is his way to draw attention from the poor economy, massive job losses due to outsourcing.

Sad as it was 9/11 is the only reason Bush was relected, he was re elected on fear otherwise he would only of been a one term lame duck president.
