President Vladimir Putin has signed a law allowing Russia's Constitutional Court to decide whether or not to implement rulings of international human rights courts.

The law, published on Tuesday on the government website, enables the Russian court to overturn decisions of the Strasbourg-based European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) if it deems them unconstitutional.
These unaccountable courts should be considered unconstitutional by default.

So we can see that the global village dream/BS is not as popular as we might have thought givin the tonnage of frothy articles puplished for public instruction these last three decades or more. Weren't we told that communism was crushed when the wall came down?

Too bad Canada doesn't have the balls to stand up to some of these self appointed groups that think they can dictate what everyone must do. Dumping the UN would be a good first step.

Communism is the form in power in the west. All those elite wealthy are party members or they don't party. The corporate super state.

Oh oh, you are confusing fascism with communism.

What you are seeing is a murderous dictator trying to avoid prosecution.

No, you are confusing communism with fascism.
But your confession about your fascist inclinations is appreciated.
petros= I'm already earning off it.

the difference between fascism and communism is theoretical, whereas in practice, both are quite similar.

Well the time has come to say the world court nonsense is just that. What happens
within the boarders of a nation is the nations business. When transgressors take
it upon themselves to cross boarders to extend their power for powers sake then
international justice is another matter.
Putin is doing something America would do if the former President were to be hauled
before a world court for wrongs done or perceived to have been done.
Syria is a problem because the West made it a problem they armed unstable factions
who's loyalty was questionable at best. They eliminated Saddam in Iraq and created
a vacuum of power in the region giving rise to ISIS.
Russia is taking the position it will determine its own justice and what it feels is right
for itself. Ukraine be damned in his view and as a major power he has the power to do
what he wants to do within the borders of Russia, How does that equate to the Ukraine?
Well he just made some of it part of Russia. Think about it if you support the nit wit
Trump there is a lesson here. Putin is making Russia Great Again and this is how those
demagogues do things

I'm kind of surprised to learn that they were ever compliant with any international law, anyway. If they were, it was for the briefest of periods after the collapse of the Soviet Union and before the current thugocracy came to power.

P.S. the United States of America is not signatory to the World Court, either. I guess that they are uncomfortable with the thought of having George W. Bush on the docket in de Hague for the illegal invasion of another sovreign nation, a la Adolph Hitler.

Crimea was annexed with the approval of it's citizens by a wide margin in refferendum.

crimea was russian before the banker bolshevic stalin sent it away to ukraine not so long ago no?

"After the Russian Revolution of 1917, Crimea became a republic within the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic in the USSR. In World War Two it was downgraded to the Crimean Oblast, and in 1954, the Crimean Oblast was transferred to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic."
