Apparently I am since I'm beyond any Reagan influence in the demise in the USSR the same way I'm beyond the belief in the Beatles changing the world.

Keep your pop culture history, it doesn't bother me if you believe it.

Not only are the details wrong, you even referenced the wrong President.

How Jimmy Carter and I Started the Mujahideen

Q: When the Soviets justified their intervention by asserting that they intended to fight against a secret involvement of the United States in Afghanistan, people didn’t believe them. However, there was a basis of truth. You don’t regret anything today?
Brzezinski: Regret what? That secret operation was an excellent idea. It had the effect of drawing the Russians into the Afghan trap and you want me to regret it? The day that the Soviets officially crossed the border, I wrote to President Carter: We now have the opportunity of giving to the USSR its Vietnam war. Indeed, for almost 10 years, Moscow had to carry on a war unsupportable by the government, a conflict that brought about the demoralization and finally the breakup of the Soviet empire.
Q: And neither do you regret having supported the Islamic [integrisme], having given arms and advice to future terrorists?
Brzezinski: What is most important to the history of the world? The Taliban or the collapse of the Soviet empire? Some stirred-up Moslems or the liberation of Central Europe and the end of the cold war?

Take your meds. Coal miners in Ukraine and Siberia went on strike bringing industry in the USSR to a halt. They had been working months at a time with no pay. Even when laid there was food and consumer goods shortages and skyrocketing inflation.

How did the mujahedeen or Reagan influence that?

War is cheap if you have industry. Employing people to change traffic lights so they have a job is expensive. If they fired traffic light people they could have paid socialist robots in industry.

Funny. I thought it was stuff like military spending, Gorby's changes, corruption, black markets, strikes, etc.

The first one only, the other parts came in as international businesses moved in for the kill.

Really? There was no corruption in the USSR?
And Gorby didn't introduce some wild changes in gov't?
And there were no black markets making a living out of food shortages and the like?
There were no strikes as a result of the above and other issues?
It was all arranged by Parr, huh?
You should really get that exhaust leak fixed on your combine.
You should come back to Earth.

Thanks to endlessly regurgitated conservative propaganda, we have the myth of Reagan bringing down the Soviet Union....among other things he had little or nothing to do with!

Best theory I've heard on what ended communism in Russia is that it started with top Communist Party officials wanting to end it and become rich capitalists, like their western counterparts. So, they engineered the fire sale of state assets in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan etc. and became billionaires.

BTW, if it was all about communism, why has the US been engaged in a strategy to keep advancing NATO and encircle Russia with hostile forces? Looks like we are closer to full scale war between US and Russia than we ever were at the height of the Cold War, because capitalist Russia is using Syria to showcase their weapons industries and compete with America's #1 export! So much for all that bull**** 25 years ago about how "free" markets would end wars and reduce the risks of major military confrontations.
