What is happening on the Russian market today against the backdrop of the weaker ruble and sanctions? What is the real level of unemployment in today's Russia? How will the economic situation in Russia develop further? Pravda.Ru asked these questions to Director of the Institute of Actual Economics, Nikita Isayev.

"What is the real level of unemployment in Russia? The data ranges from 5 to 20 percent."

"Since the beginning of the economic crisis, the unemployment rate has not changed much. An economic crisis stipulates for a drop in living standards. This is reflected in major macroeconomic indicators: the decline in GDP, purchasing capacity, inflation, stagflation and other indicators, including unemployment.

"However, during the in 2014-2015, the unemployment rate has not changed. It was 4.8 percent prior to the crisis and about 5.4 percent today, as the Russian Statistics agency (Rosstat) says. Many remember the year 1991, when unemployment in Russia was 13.5 percent. In 1998, it was about 12 percent. By 2009-2010, the unemployment rate has reached the level of 10.5 percent, and now it is 5.4 percent. This is not just the lowest rate for all economic crises that Russia has seen, but it is much better than in the world and even better than in the United States of America.

"In the United States, the unemployment rate is higher, despite the growing economy. In August, it was said that the unemployment rate in the United States made up 5.5 per cent. In Greece, the unemployment rate is 23.5 percent. The situation in Italy, Spain, Southern France and other countries of Europe leaves much to be desired as well. In a nutshell, Russia is not in the worst trend here."

"Is this officially registered unemployment?"

"Yes, it is. These numbers are calculated on the basis of how many people come to employment agencies. The average amount of social assistance, or welfare, for the unemployed in the United States, ranges from 400 to 600 dollars. In Germany, this amount makes up about 450 euros. In Russia, the maximum rate of the local benefit is 4,900 rubles, which is about $60-70. Clearly, one can not live for this money. The government believes that the parasitical system should not be expanded. The government tries to encourage people to look for jobs. Yet, it does not solve the current problems in the country. The current state of affairs in Russia is catastrophic. Default in the corporate sector is snowballing this year. Many employers will face huge losses later this year. The situation in the financial sector has been worsening, banks have no real possibility in crediting, therefore they do not need to keep so many employees.

A low rate of unemployment benefit encourages the unemployed to seek employment and gives a country a low unemployment rate. Pay lavish amounts of unemployment benefit, and it will encourage the unemployed to remain unemployed and just live off their unemployment benefits.

In Britain, unemployment benefits - Jobseekers' Allowance (JSA) - is a meagre £71 per week. Britain's unemployment rate is 5.5%.

In Spain, on the other hand, the MINIMUM amount of unemployment benefit per week is around £90, and Spain's unemployment rate is 22%.

In Canada, it seems to be even more generous even than Spain's, and Canada's unemployment rate is 6.8%.

He is showing you how f-cked Russia and Putin are.

How can we trust your evaluation Peter? You are a geneticly modified organism by now. Probably need a roundup shower everyday to keep the bol weevils off your blossom. Still there's the fast dwindling to insignificant chance that you might be right about the Russian condition but any such outburst of misplaced faith stands in stark contrast to your completely wrong belief about the Ukraine condition. Close approximation to the demonic chemicals has taken hold of your once high facalty and Monsanto owns your withered soul. Happy Yom Kippur.

Russia is a beautiful place, as anyone who has been to St Petersburg knows. The Hairy Bikers were there for their new travelogue/cookery BBC show last week and they had a whale of a time. They're in Finland tonight.

Vodka isn't even Russian.

The first production was either in Poland in the 8th century, or in the area of today's Russia in the late 9th century, according to different sources.

According to the Gin and Vodka Association (GVA), the first distillery was documented over three hundred years later at Khlynovsk as reported in the Vyatka Chronicle of 1174.

Khlynovsk is today known as Vyatka, and it is a city of almost half-a-million people in Russia's Kirov Oblast.

The word "vodka" comes from the Russian word for water.

Russia is nice, but Petros is anti-Russia because they pwned is country back when.

He sorta reminds me of an Alabamian "The South Will Rise Again" after the North pwned the south. Just and ignorant ditch digger.

What country is that? Greece? Petros is the Greek for Peter.
