A southern Russia court has jailed three young women for appearing in a video twerking near a Second World War memorial.
Yana Kutakova, 24, and Yekaterina Scherbedinskaya, 26, were sentenced to 10 days in jail, while 18-year-old Margarita Radetskaya was given 15 days behind bars for petty hooliganism.
Alla Korkach, 28, and Viktoria Yurieva, 22, were fined.
The parents of another dancer, who is underage, were charged for "failing to perform parental duties for raising minors" and the mother was fined for "failing to take measures to facilitate children's physical, intellectual, psychological, spiritual and moral growth," according to the ruling on Saturday.
Prosecutors said the dance was "erotic and sexual" and "disrespect for the memory of war history is unacceptable and any attempts to desecrate sites of military glory will be stopped immediately."
The memorial, erected in 1982 in Novorossiysk, commemorates the soldiers who died while battling to free the area from German occupation in 1943.
Russian tabloid LifeNews reported that the mayor of Novorossiysk was "outraged" by the video and alerted officials to investigate.
The punishments come as Russia is slated to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Second World War.
This case comes after a dance school in Orenburg was shut down this month after the release of a video of teen girls twerking in a Winnie the Pooh-styled show for parents went viral on YouTube.
In 2012, the Russian punk group ***** Riot were imprisoned for hooliganism for performing an anti-Vladimir Putin song at a Moscow church.
