May Golan מאי גולן ‏@GolanMay SAUDI TO BUY NUKES: TURKEY & EGYPT NEXT! Israel PM Right: Obama Iran Deal Sparks Nuke Arm Race http://bit.ly/1CaKWlQ

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s most explicit warning of the dangers of a “bad deal” with Iran are not that Iran would immediately get the bomb, but that other countries in the region might accelerate efforts to catch up with Tehran.

According to Emily B. Landau of the Institute of National Security Studies, whose expertise lies in nuclear proliferation and armament, all eyes are on Saudi Arabia.

Following Iran, “Saudi Arabia is the #1 contender to get nuclear weapons because there is a perceived relationship there with Pakistan. Saudi Arabia has financed Pakistan’s ballistic missile program and there might be some arrangement already in place on nuclear capability,” she said

“Saudi Arabia might be able to buy a bomb from Pakistan.”

Ms. Landau emphasizes that she is not saying anything new here. The speculation that Saudi Arabia (as well as Egypt and Turkey) would go nuclear in response to Iran’s program is an old one. Still, Saudi Arabia’s motivation might be more pronounced because regional proximity to Iran and because Riyadh has the financial means to compete.

“Saudi Arabia is the most motivated to get a nuclear weapon because of the Persian Gulf ‘subregional’ rivalry. Egypt and Turkey also have the motivation to be contenders and are not comfortable with Iran having a strategic edge over them.”

I question the reasoning also considering Israel has had nukes for quite some time and that hasn't seemed to cause any "discomfort" with Israel having a strategic edge over. Especially since both Egypt and Saudi Arabia have both gone up against Israel in a conventional war and lost.

The Israelis have never felt desperate enough to nuke their enemies, and the Israeli govt. has the support of most of its populace who see Israeli institutions as legitimate. This provides a lot of stability.

Saudi Arabia's govt. lacks legitimacy and stability. Btw, Saudi Arabian forces and Iranian proxy forces are now lining up at Yemen's border with the KSA. What could go wrong?

The sky is falling. Pass the toast.

Everything works out fine until the moment it doesn't.

In the case of Saudi it would be a major chore to make the place worse for the locals. Little did the citizens know who the tanks were to be used against when the king suddenly needed 1,000 of the newest ones. Ask the people in Bahrain what they are used for, giving the place to ISIS as a Coast Guard station would be an improvement over what they have at the moment.

Israel would love to sell nukes to the local Arab nations and they wouldn't even think of having a back-door in for themselves.
