First thing, our nation must stop looking at the past. Blaming Bush for going into Iraq will not solve the problem. Blaming Obama for not securing a Status of Forces Agreement to keep a residual force there will not solve the problem. The problem is here regardless of the politics of how the end result got us here.Something to keep in mind is that any strategy must evolve as facts on the ground change. This strategy also uses the minimal US military force in reference to ground troops which are more in advisory roles.

What we will look at in this article for defeating the Islamic State are military operations, military assistance programs, diplomatic initiatives that should have been done over three years ago, economic pressure, information operations and changing of the ideology. All of these play an integral part to defeating the Islamic State. One alone will not defeat the problem. One only need look at history to understand.

First off the Obama admin should have ensured the military could do the job
before America began to leave and Bush destabilized the Iraq by his actions.
those events are part of history and cannot be overlooked. No it won't solve
the problem to blame, but these administrations have to understand the enemy
they are fighting.
The West will have to put boots on the ground at some point because the
forces there are not strong enough or well trained enough to do the job.
This is going to develop into a major conflict before its over and its going
to last a number of years.

I don't think "OUR" nation does that.. I think that's a US trait and Obama cop out.

Probably because she doesn't speak Japanese. A little over 40,000 Army men and women lost their lives in the Asia-Pacific theater.

...and then they dropped 2 bombs. Ended the war.

I must say, Obama has certainly taken much, maybe even most, of the heat off himself by going Rambo.

I knew that if he gave into the Republicans enough, something would eventually work. Just think what he might have accomplished if he'd gone to war in 2009.

Democrats tend to be very concerned with the perception that they are weak in the face of scary brown people. Republicans, of course, just want to murder them and stuff their friends' pockets with military contracts, but it's Democrats that overcompensate. We're stuck with two US political parties whose default position is shoot first and ask questions never.

Pretty much. It's worth noting that the Democrats have a much bloodier track record than the Republicans. Probably because they have more military veterans than the Republicans, who are mostly ready to shed the last drop of somebody else's blood to ensure that free dumb and just us survive and thrive in the world.

Do you realize you're implicitly criticizing Obama? You must be a racist.
