IMF downgrades Canada's 2014 growth to 2.2%, 2nd best in G7

Global growth stalled by weakness in U.S. and China as Britain pulls ahead

The International Monetary Fund has downgraded its economic outlook for Canada, saying the economy will grow just 2.2 per cent in 2014 and 2.4 per cent in 2015.

It’s somewhat gloomier outlook puts it in line with the Bank of Canada, which has said the slow start to the year because of a bitter winter and weakness in China will mean less economic activity in Canada.

The Canadian dollar fell on the news, trading 0.19 of a cent lower at 93.02 cents US on Thursday afternoon.

The IMF also forecasts slower growth in the rest of the world, saying the world economy will grow at 3.4 per cent in 2014, picking up to four per cent in 2015. That’s less than the 3.7 per cent it had anticipated for this year.

It's not the first time Britain has led the world.

3.2% economic growth for 2014, outperforming the rest of the G7 yet again (between the early Nineties and 2008 Britain was the only major Western economy to not suffer a recession) and unemployment has just fallen to 6.2%, whilst it rises in other G7 countries.

The IMF attacked Tory Chancellor George Osborne's cuts when he first implemented them saying, like most lefties, that it will ruin the economy, and yet here we are with a booming economy and the IMF is now saying that Osborne was right to implement the cuts after all (the same "devastating" cuts which lefties have been marching against).

That's why this economic growth for Great Britain spells bad news for the left wing parties at the 2015 and why I think the Tories will be elected, minus the Liberals this time.
