Goldstone report on Cast Lead - Repudiated - By Goldstone

Israel has called on the UN to cancel a report that said it possibly committed war crimes during its 2008-2009 military offensive in Gaza.

The report's author, South African judge Richard Goldstone, said on Friday that new accounts indicated Israel had not deliberately targeted civilians.

He said that if he had known what he knew now, "the Goldstone Report would have been a different document".

Israel's prime minister said the remark meant the report "should be buried".

Operation Cast Lead was launched in response to repeated rocket attacks on Israeli territory by militants in Gaza. Some 1,400 Palestinians were killed, including hundreds of civilians, as well as 13 Israelis.
In an opinion piece in the Washington Post on Friday, Mr Goldstone wrote that his conclusions about Israel appeared to have been wrong.

He said the Israeli investigations, which were recognised by a UN committee, indicated that "civilians were not intentionally targeted as a matter of policy".

"We know a lot more today about what happened in the Gaza war," he explained. "If I had known then what I know now, the Goldstone Report would have been a different document."

But those that cannot stand the existence of the State of Isreal, the only democracy in the Mid East - Well what will they think now. They will still think the same.

EAO......
Eao........
Wherefor art thou, EAO?

If I recall correctly all we heard was - An independent report - By a South African Judge - Highly reputable - and to boot a Jew. I recall hearing the Jewish part quite often.

Will they now appear - Doubtful - Dreams dashed - Beliefs shattered - and to boot - a Jew is no longer someone the can rely on for so called evidence.

Guess when a Jew realizes he made a mistake, he is then co-opted by the Jewish cabal - Or has been subjected to who knows what.

All it means that in the long term anything this many states will be held by those that are Anti-Israel - Well he is no longer relevant - See how quickly they turn on what was once thought to be their own. He is now the enemy - along with all other Jews.

They don't want it. What does that tell you?
\\

They might now...........

You know what is striking in all this?

How often the Israeli position is verified, long after the incident in question has fallen off the front pages.

Mass murder in Jenin.

Never happened.

the shooting of a young boy.

Never happened.

The fight at sea with the blocade runners.

Happened just like Israel said.....

And now Operation Cast Lead.

You'd think the radical supporters of murderous Islamists would get tired of being lied to.

But no......

The problem is people are looking for evidence of some conspiracy instead of
looking for and listening for the truth. The countries of the Arab world are the
ones who want the problems to go on for the Palestinians. Arab Countries
want to point to the poor people of the West Bank that they want to keep in
poverty and isolation, so they can condemn Israel to the rest of the world.
If this were not so they would not support Hamas and other such groups.
Israel is not perfect, no nation is , but the lies that get told are not conspiracy
theories, they are statements of propaganda.

Feel free to go over every point in as much detail how Israel was tricked into looking bad in the world view.

Dear MHz......

Depending on the current United Nations for a neutral, balanced view of Israel is ridiculous. The UN has rarely, over the past 50 years, been able to approach Israel with anything close to a fair perspective.

How many resolutions against Israel?

How many against the Sudan?

How many against Syria?

How many against Iran?

How many against China?

How many against Zimbabwe?

How many that relate to the Congo?

What the reversal of the Goldstone Report does is proves, once again, that the UN by itself is completely incapable of providing a balanced assessment of Israeli actions.

Full stop.

The UN is completely discredited, and your reference to them irrelevant.

Just like we've been telling you for years.

It kind of lost it's meaning when the task of trials was left to the IDF, wonder of wonders of all the charges and complaints one soldier did a weekend under house arrest. If justice was the goal the it would have been referred to the same court that the STL is heard in. They don't seem to be catching any speeding tickets getting on with that investigation. Perhaps Lebanon giveing the UN the 49.5% of the costs that they were contribute and the Judges were withdrawn to become defense attorneys for the 'accused' should there on be one after evaluating the bomb damage. Perhaps they can switch to this situation rather than everybody go home. With Israel chipping in 49.5% of the investigation/trial the rest of the world might be willing to chip in if the trial can be concluded in 5 years or so (depending on what comes out). That would seem to be goose/gander fair.

Still diverting Mhz.

But we can all understand your aversion to addressing something you once foisted as a fact, being proven to be erroneous, by the author himself.

So did Jimmy Carter on the desire to investigate UFO's should he ever get into office. That didn't clear up the UFO issue. So did one of the Architects that designed the WTC Towers when he said for years that the building were built to withstand multiple impacts and the last interview he ever gave said he hadn't factored in the fuel catching fire, they did factor in a fully loaded plane and the steel was fireproofed but they forgot to factor in the jet fuel catching fire. Both of those men could now probably spend a week or two in Gitmo and it would be less ****ing pressure than they have been under for years.

The people who should be doing the reporting are the ones who live there and experienced the events first hand. That is who should be giving testimony to a court that took statements in the STL. Goldstone should have been a collection of names of people who should be interviewed, the Judges should be in charge of that, in most cases Israel was given the 'option' to investigate.

One such investigation had the UN agreeing that a flour-mill was a military target based on a few shell casings found on the roof after the IDF had control of the ground around it for several days. You don't have to watch too many Law & Order shows to know it is a cover-up or has the possibility of being planted evidence. What investigation didn't follow a similar pattern? When you start that you become predictable and when doing 'bad things' sooner or later word spreads, with any luck at all.

Still diverting Mhz. But also equally as funny, watching you try to throw anything you can find to avoid acknowledging something you clung to was wrong...

Mr. C, you should be aware that my eyes narrowed when I saw those words.

Depending on the current United Nations for a neutral, balanced view of Israel is ridiculous. The UN has rarely, over the past 50 years, been able to approach Israel with anything close to a fair perspective.
How many of those condemnations resulted in any change? None, none a single one had teeth, however, Iraq is totally dismantled fot an invasion sparked by '$lant-drilling concern$'. If fair was the goal the security council wouldn't even have a veto power, the members should be doing the will of the 100 odd other countries. It is the civilian arm of the various military forces in the world. It does show that bringing up complaints of abuse is useless when the abuser is a member of the security council itself.

It seems like it's a pick and choose operation which is a shame because that means the search for a world where neighboring Nations can enhance each others existance it will be be the same old war, war, war, while preaching for peace. Yet the one war that really is needed is the one that never gets fought. That about it in 'toon town'

What the reversal of the Goldstone Report does is proves, once again, that the UN by itself is completely incapable of providing a balanced assessment of Israeli actions.

Okay I agree, get out of Afghanistan, Iraq, and drop the sanctions against Iran
