Wondering why Bloc Quebecios is a national party when it represents only one province
Because they have a right to exist under our constitution. If they ran a candidate in my riding, I might vote for them. They are the only honest bunch in the lot.

Don't be saying this too loud. We don't want the separatists to get hurt feelings. This is part of the BS we put ourselves through
to appease separatists. They shouldn't be allowed to run in a federal election but again we make allowances. Why? I have no idea.

Because, whether we like it or not, they are still Canadians and Quebecois have a right to be represented by who they want.

As far as I'm concerned, separatists are guilty of sedition. They are trying to break up the country. The rights of Quebecers
are not in question but like most people in Canada I'm getting sick of all the whining from the bloc heads.

I agree with you in principle about the aims of the Bloc but the fact remains that they could run as independents and still maintain a seperatist agenda, because you do not have to be part of a party to seek election or be elected. I support the idea of independent MPs (I wish there were more to represent their constituents wishes (as Chuck Cadman did for example when he voted to uphold Paul Martin's gov't) rather than a party line that most constituents may/do not support) thus I cannot deny the right of the Bloc to exist as a political entity, just as I cannot deny other fringe groups that right, whether they be Christian Heritage, Marxist-Lenninist or Rhino parties.

Who says the BQ is a natioanl party? They were once Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition but is there an official designation of "national" party?

They are already seperate just like all the other provinces are seperate.
Canada is a confederation of independent provinces. The whole sovereignty issue is a smoke screen. The federal government exists to represent those sovereign provinces in international affairs and to bring some cohesion between the provinces. They seem to be failing in the latter case.

But it shouldn't be that way.
How much different was the reform Party from the Bloq? They were a western regional party dedicated to bringing the wests concerns to Ottawa. They hijacked the PC party and now they run the government under Harper. I really don't see much difference.

Ahhh...I voted Reform....in Saint John, NB.

Reform ran across the nation. And eventually won seats in much of the nation. And now the Conservative Party is the ONLY party that represents all parts of Canada.

That said, the people of Quebec have every right to elect whomever they please, from whatever party they wish to call themselves.

we just don't have to encourage them

Why the heck are we all so concerned with stopping separation. Let them go and take their share of the national debt with them.

It might create a logistical problem connecting eastern and western Canada. But that is mute.

It is not feasible for Quebec to separate. They would lose the northern half of the province to the indigenous peoples who do not want to leave Canada and thus lose a vast part of the resources they need to survive. They would be broke within a few months and would be begging to come back. The whole sovereignty issue is a smoke screen. They are a sovereign province just like all the rest. But the ruling elite like to use issues that create emotional mayhem to provoke insecurity among Canadians because insecure people are so much easier to manipulate. Logic flies out the window and people are incapable in seeing what is really going on. It is all a distraction so you don't see that your about to be buggered once again. Whenever the separatist thing rears its ugly head, it is time to stock up on Vaseline because the government (doesn't matter which one) just got in a new supply of Viagra.
