It would be interesting what people would come up with in priortising the following from most to least urgent.
1. Environment
2. Unemployment
3. Crime
4. Healthcare
5. Immigration
6. Homelessness
7. Illegal Drugs
8. Other concerns

I'd say our biggest problem is constantly watching what others are doing, and trying to live to that standard. Canada is not any other country. We are uniquely sparsely populated, and many of our issues revolve around that fact. Yet we don't want to live as if that's an issue.

our biggest problem is "how can we get one of our 6 Canadian NHL teams to win the Stanley Cup??"

:D

I'm not sure it's the biggest but it's right up there in that it would give the local economy a "shot in the arm".

Might be more of a solution than a problem.

Canada's biggest problem?

Canada has the same problems as any other industrialized country. Some of those problems are made worse by our long borders, our small population, and our land area.

Good thinking #Juan and perhaps a good reason for supporting our economy.

I think our biggest problem are career politicians and Canada's inability to produce a decent one. Nevermind all of them nowadays are lawyers from or have practiced in Quebec.

Our "best" Prime Minister, John McKenzie King, ran a government which spent more time covering up his frivilous spending, visits to prositutes, conspiring with Adolf Hitler (Canada did not enter the war a week late because it was "independent") and his "hobbies" -- namely talking to his cats (who he thought were dead friends and his mother)and his claims of speaking with demons, than actually running the country. .

Biggest problem?

Multi-culturalism running amok.
Politicians who don't have the decency to retire after they "earned" their outrageous pension.

I wasn't aware that we had a P.M. named "John McKenzie King".

Canadian identity is another problem. It was introduced in 1946, under the Canadian citizenship act, but it has otherwise been a failure when we are compared with Australia and New Zealand.

Anglo-Canadian culture has always been suppressed in order to appease Franco-Canadians and reduce tensions with Quebec and consequentially with the intent to maintain our 'Empire of the St. Lawrence' (or better termed "Empire of Toronto and Quebec).

Rurally, it's better in British Columbia and BC Day in the Okangon is a great holiday compared to the often lacklustre Canada Day which often has a poor showing... :)

You must be young. We never had an identity problem until PET declared us multiculti and bilingual. Hard to have a national identity when every one is hyphenated and clings to traditions and battles they brought with them.

Our biggest problems as I see them is a lack of vision by our leaders which leads to the other problems of poor economy and lack of good jobs, squabbling between provinces, outsourcing production and basically all the other ailments others have mentioned.

Our biggest problem is we have no vision as a country and no visionary leadership. All the
plans are made to last the next three years. It takes two years to gear up and the priority
has changed by then. We need some serious leadership in government in opposition and
in the ranks of the smaller parties. There were days when the Liberals and Conservatives
had raging battles going on, yet they both had visionary leadership. At the same time the
NDP claimed the social moral ground and used its limited power to ensure progress. All
of that is gone. All the major parties are more interested in themselves talk than standing
for what Canadians want. Once we have some vision, we can actually set some goals
en route to some success.
