well, since it sort of got started in the previous thread in an unrelated manner, I figured I would have it completely related in this topic! :violent1:

The Country of Cuba, run by a Socialistc Govt that has an election but yet doesn't really have the leader change. They have many issues with the USA, the Embargo, Cubans that flee their own land to come to the States only to be rejected and sent back home.

Many people from other countries that don't have issues with them, will travel yearly to Cuba for Vacations to their beautiful resorts and see the land that to many who actually go there see very little if any of this so called Tyranny that the USA claims occurs there all the time.

Yes, there were problems back when this revolution first occurred! the Castro govt killed many people who were against them, possibly a fear that they didnt' want anyone to try and over run them.

But this article is ABOUT CUBA TODAY!

I for one, like the Country of Cuba. I have no issues with it even though they're run by a leader that determines pretty much everything that happens to it on a national scale.

they have been recently allowed Cell Phones, they've been given more ability the last while to do things when Fidel's brother took over.

When I visited in April of 2008 for 9 days. I saw Havana, the city that really stands out from the rest. Sure, they don't have a McDonalds or a Subway or a Walmart or Burger King, and so on. they don't have Rogers Digital TV, Sirius/XM Satellite Radio, etc. They do get to have computers, but they're not exactly top of the line, HP or Dell or IBM style. They do have TV's! but they aren't 60 inch wide screen HD types. their cars are from the 50's era. but they build their parts and do all their repairs on the island!

their culture and lifestyle is a simpler one. But from what I saw, and the family I got to know? they weren't all that concerned that they didn't have many of the things we have.

I remember talking to the one man who was I think 21, 22? he had a computer. it was about a year and some behind the ones that were new in America. he didn't have an IPOD, weren't available. didn't have a cell phone, weren't there yet!

I told him all about the stuff that we had available. like the TV's the DVD players, the recorders,

he was amazed and thought how cool these things were. But he didn't say "how I would love to have one!!"

his biggest thrill was downloading TV shows off the internet. I can't remember exactly how he was doing it, hard to recall 2 years..

the family was happy with how their lives were. it was genuine, it was not faked to appear that way. they ran a business where they would rent out their extra rooms to tourists. they had only rules where they had to have declared how many people were staying there. and they of course, like any place here that pays taxes to the govt, paid a certain percentage of what they earned to the govt. no different really if you look at it closely.

the mother of the family was actually working in a business that was allowed to leave Cuba for business and she has been to Canada and other countries.

she comes back of course but that's a given, she's not tempted to desert her family at all, like I said she has no issues living in Cuba.

Ya Cuba has its problems. But they're not as bad and as insane as the US media makes them out to be. far from it!

if I could afford to, I'd go back in a minute!

the USA is already working on changing their laws. very soon people will be allowed to go there again without restrictions.

and soon that Embargo will be lifted, just working on some things I'm sure in the background that we don't learn about.

but I believe a lot of it has to do with the economy and they I'm sure cannot afford to be stopping Cuba anymore.

Besides, Cuba is looking into offshore drilling!! and the US I don't think wants to give that up to them. naturally.

Stop hitting yerself...

Look up feet wet/feet dry.

Many people from other countries that don't have issues with them, will travel yearly to Cuba for Vacations to their beautiful resorts and see the land that to many who actually go there see very little if any of this so called Tyranny that the USA claims occurs there all the time.
Just out of curiousity, did you see all the Native poverty and corruption that's rampant on many reserves at the Olympics?

Yes, there were problems back when this revolution first occurred! the Castro govt killed many people who were against them, possibly a fear that they didnt' want anyone to try and over run them.
And they still have that fear.

But this article is ABOUT CUBA TODAY!
Which is as messed up as it was yesterday.
I for one, like the Country of Cuba. I have no issues with it even though they're run by a leader that determines pretty much everything that happens to it on a national scale.
I like Cuba too. I like Cuban girls, frickin hotties, next only to brazilians for best assez.

Thatnk gawd Castro didn't f!ck that up.
they have been recently allowed Cell Phones, they've been given more ability the last while to do things when Fidel's brother took over.
Wow!!! A country that "recently allowed cell phones" must be just awesome!!!

When I visited in April of 2008 for 9 days. I saw Havana, the city that really stands out from the rest. Weren't you just saying how Cuba was awesome?

their culture and lifestyle is a simpler one. But from what I saw, and the family I got to know? they weren't all that concerned that they didn't have many of the things we have.
Ya, living in a socialist dictatorship can have that affect on ya.

I remember talking to the one man who was I think 21, 22? he had a computer. it was about a year and some behind the ones that were new in America. he didn't have an IPOD, weren't available. didn't have a cell phone, weren't there yet!
I talked to a bum once, he didn't have anything either.

I told him all about the stuff that we had available. like the TV's the DVD players, the recorders,

he was amazed and thought how cool these things were. But he didn't say "how I would love to have one!!"
Cavemen would marvel at the sight of a Bic lighter too. But pride sometimes stifles desire.

his biggest thrill was downloading TV shows off the internet. I can't remember exactly how he was doing it, hard to recall 2 years..
Ya, cuz Cuban TV is like Canadian TV. It's calming, soothing, relaxing to the point of putting you to sleep, like a massage without the happy ending.
the family was happy with how their lives were. it was genuine, it was not faked to appear that way. they ran a business where they would rent out their extra rooms to tourists. they had only rules where they had to have declared how many people were staying there. and they of course, like any place here that pays taxes to the govt, paid a certain percentage of what they earned to the govt. no different really if you look at it closely.
When you're being looked at closely.
the mother of the family was actually working in a business that was allowed to leave Cuba for business and she has been to Canada and other countries.
Ahhh, I'm starting to see said the blind man to the deaf frog.

she comes back of course but that's a given, she's not tempted to desert her family at all, like I said she has no issues living in Cuba.
Cuz her family would pay, lol.
Ya Cuba has its problems. But they're not as bad and as insane as the US media makes them out to be. far from it!
Agreed, if only you understood that.

if I could afford to, I'd go back in a minute!
Good for you.

the USA is already working on changing their laws. very soon people will be allowed to go there again without restrictions.
Too cool.

and soon that Embargo will be lifted, just working on some things I'm sure in the background that we don't learn about.
That happens when you haven't been around long or research history much.
but I believe a lot of it has to do with the economy and they I'm sure cannot afford to be stopping Cuba anymore.
Hmmm, I'm not sure how funding Cuba's economy will save the US's.

Besides, Cuba is looking into offshore drilling!! and the US I don't think wants to give that up to them. naturally.
Full circle, big bad America again...

it has nothing to do with big Bad America man.

if Cuba gets the Drilling going and starts to make money, they won't care about the Embargo anymore.

but the Americans will want a piece of that!

How will CUba do that with the embargo in place?

Who will they get their rigs from? Who will they hire to run them? Where will they get their downhole tools from? Who will they hire to run them?

I can't think of a single drilling or service company that isn't reliant on US man power, tech, or funding. Even my hubby is considered a 'US person' due to his position in an international service company, and would be subject to legal action if he were to work for Cuba. Ironically, he'd also be subject under Canadian law if he turned down work for Cuba based on his status as a 'US person'.

they're capable. there has been talk about it for some time now.

they have the ability to get the tools and devices from other countries, as well as hire their own people from their own country.

ya but it doesn't take a genius to figure out the obviousness of America wanting to take it from them.

Let's hope the US does lift the embargo, and insert itself into the process of oil extraction for Cuba. The thought of some country without the proper safety measures drilling in coastal waters is terrifying. JUst look at what happens when countries that KNOW BETTER do it. The environmental risk is huge.

How do I know that countries just starting oil exploration don't fully understand the ways rigs work, the ways procedures effect safety, etc.?

I've grown up in the oil patch, and I've seen the accidents that occur with new hands. I've heard the tales, and seen the results, of men doing things without thinking about the risk because they haven't yet seen what can happen. I've seen hands lost, faces destroyed, rigs blown up, land soaked in oil, and lives lost. And that's simple little prairie rigs Chili, run by mainly experienced crews, running the necessary risk of taking on green hands.

Right, it's called a Dictatorship.

Wrong again. We will turn boats away but if they make it ashore they are here to stay.

Many people from other countries that don't have issues with them, will travel yearly to Cuba for Vacations to their beautiful resorts and see the land that to many who actually go there see very little if any of this so called Tyranny that the USA claims occurs there all the time.

Right, anyone that opens their mouth is jailed...all the time.

Yes, there were problems back when this revolution first occurred! the Castro govt killed many people who were against them, possibly a fear that they didnt' want anyone to try and over run them.

Oh well...that's not so bad. Killing people that have a different view right? That's not so bad.

Again that is what tyranny is, the part you don't see.

Yaay... Cell phones... it's 2010.

When I visited in April of 2008 for 9 days. I saw Havana, the city that really stands out from the rest. They have TVs! WOW! 1950 era cars and they do their own repairs! What a Nirvana!

Wait until the embargo gets lifted, hee hee. McD's, Walmarts, Subways galore!

Ya Cuba has its problems. But they're not as bad and as insane as the US media makes them out to be. far from it!

For the most part...Americans don't give Cuba a second thought. Yes we hear them whine about the embargo and all but it really doesn't matter to the avereage American.

the USA is already working on changing their laws. very soon people will be allowed to go there again without restrictions.

And when we do...look out. The last Oasis will be gone and you'll deal with American tourists. Do you really want that?

and soon that Embargo will be lifted, just working on some things I'm sure in the background that we don't learn about.

I haven't heard much on it. Castro needs the USA to be the Boogieman so don't expect it any time soon. The embargo stays.

but I believe a lot of it has to do with the economy and they I'm sure cannot afford to be stopping Cuba anymore.

We aren't stopping Cuba from doing anything.

Besides, Cuba is looking into offshore drilling!! and the US I don't think wants to give that up to them. naturally.

Yes another Castro lover said that and the article was from 5 years ago about Cuba drilling. Not a drill has gone in the ground. So how is that going today?

What do you think oil drilling is like? Building a garage? Hanging a picture frame? Repairing a 1957 Chevy?

This is a lesson to be learned for all the cheap bastards who insist on going to the country that holds its citizens in bondage.

I DO hope that it will cost all these cheap bastards $30,000 to enjoy their vacation.

I also hope that these Communist Slavery Supporters will lose their houses, cars and all other worldly possessions fighting the government of the country they love so much.

After all, they have already lost all their human decency, visiting Cuba.

Is political bondage better or worse than being bound by debt?
Hmmm, let's see...

Born into political bondage.

Having the freedom to make the choice?

Priceless.
