We have definitely blossomed 'as a nation', I have never seen
so many canadian flags, painted faces, smiles, cheers,
singing oh canada, I love it.
Yeah, I am converted too, I 'get it now', we would never
have experienced this as a country if the olympics had
not been here.
It will change lots of people, and open their eyes.
Maybe we will be kinder to each other, reach out more,
gather together more, and realize 'just who' we are and
what a great country this is.
We will have lots to talk about, canada has done great
as competitors in this olympics, and we can keep improving
from now on, and be even better next time.

I have always felt this way about Canada. I have not needed the olympics to bring out my patriotism or my pride in my Country.
Then you just might have a tad more seeing the unprecedented upwelling of pride across this great land that has been on display during these games and that, Gerry, is what I am speaking to. I too have always been a proud Canadian but as I overheard on CTV today, ‘there is power in the collective experience’ and that power helped fuel the belief in the hearts and minds of Canadians from every corner of our country – no matter how large or how small that we could and would shine during these games.
Canadians are not known as flag wavers, generally. We are not known to spontaneously and gloriously sing our national anthem. These games have given us a chance to show the world that we do care deeply about our country, we do feel a pride of place in the world, and we have done so in magnificent fashion.
GO, CANADA, GO!
Finally Canadians "get it".....you have been living in the shadow of a hugely populated nation smaller in size but with more people to keep it going, who have no problem in blowing their horn about how "great they are"....and you have felt uncomfortable with it - even disliked it - I'm so glad your turn has arrived!

It's catching yes? Finally Canada who deserves even more for their magnificent work on this past endeavour receives the recognition and thanks from so many who have enjoyed the beginning moments until this evening when the flames go
out on the wonderful meeting of athletes from all over the world.
There's nothing wrong on having great pride for your nation - it doesn't make anyone a better person or a snob or anything - life still goes on with all its bumps but that warm feeling of accomplishment for the hard work helps to sit back and reflect on your performances on the world stage.... revel in it.... it's good.
Don't be surprised by this "pride" thing - you've earned every big ole grin and knot in your tummy - it's called love of a nation recognized for what it is capable of accomplishing...... keep the good stuff going as long as you can...I'm so happy for all of you.

Quite frankly, Walter, the fact that she won Silver without taking her clothes off is much more impressive to me. Cheryl is a true champion and a lady I take my hat off too. Congratulations to Cheryl and her team of champs. You Rock Girls!
