Ever read, "Talk to the Hand: The Utter Bloody Rudeness of the World Today" by English writer Lynn Truss? Check it out at your local library, kryptic. It is well worth the read. From what you write, I believe you would be in complete agreement with the author.

we can blame it on human rights because everyone wants the same

I also blame it on today's media and their constant emphasis on people who should never, ever have been exposed to the limelight. We live in a world of instant 'stardom' no matter that the 'stars' are pathetic, stupid, self-absored idiots who never will amount to a hill of beans.

But then, that's just my opinion. ;-)

McLuhan: "celebrity is news and everything else is entertainment".
Some people have gotten smarter and wiser. The rest of us haven't changed, we're mostly still just dumb sheep.

Shouldn't this be in the Jokes section?

I think the world is a great place and would not want to go backwards for anything.

people have been wishing for the "good ol days" for time imemmorial. There is no such thing as the "good ol days" only people that are too afraid to look and move forward so they look to the past for security.

50 years ago... a man would hold a door for a woman but most likely not give her a job outside of 'women's work'.

50 years ago... fist fights in schools went ignored, ESPECIALLY if it was 'to toughen up' the effeminate Jones boy.

50 years ago... people were likely to ignore or even shun black neighbours.

50 years ago... domestic violence was largely ignored or even encouraged.

50 years ago... may have some lessons to teach, but, to say we've become stupider is very wrong.

And no, I wouldn't have dissected it if it were in the jokes section.

LOL!

Glad you live in a wonderful world, I would go out on a limb to say that you never have any problems, and that everything is just peachy.

As for the majority of us, maybe its the age difference between you and I, but the crap that goes on anymore is un-bloody real.

From the way your treated in this country as a citizen, to the way big business fux you over, to the way the cops think they can do what they want, I can post a bunch of examples if you want me to, of how this world is completely retarded at the moment, but I'm sure I would be wasting my time, as you have already made up your mind on how things are great.

I agree we have made some impovements as Karrie suggested, but there is enough reading material out there you can look up to show that things have not gotten better as a civilized society.

Look at videos from the G-20 summit, how our 'freedom of speech' is nullified by heavy artilery, Look at how are governments have basically enslaved us with taxes, look at how there used to be a war for a reason, Afganistan, lol... I'm sorry, but that is just a pissing match!

I am going through a lot of BS right now, and I personally garantee you that this world definately is NOT a happy place.

Some I have brought upon myself, and I accept responsiblity for it, but other stuff... wow.

BTW, I am friends with a lot of older people, and I take what they say as a great example. None of them think that things are better now.

The world still has a lot of good left in it. I get reminded of that whenever I take a hike up the hill behind here. If I stay away from the news, I tend to have a brighter outlook on life, too. :D

Thats true, if you ignore all the crap, there is no crap, its all good then. I'm sure there is a lot of good left, but it seems to be left below the surface of most.
