An article about a woman with an animal hoarding problem? I hate that I'm asking this, but what does that have to do with homosexuality?

bluedog,

What are you on this morning? That is one mixed up diatribe!

I live in a town and most of the people know me because I talk to them on a daily basis. I have been on the board of directors of Community Services, the Mental Health Club House, the Celebration of Wellness festival of alternative healing, the Aboriginal Friendship Center, adviser to the youth club, consultant to the local museum on aboriginal history, written a book on aboriginal history, the history of Barkerville, a book on comparative religions and a novel based on aboriginal shamanism, raised money for the food bank and volunteered on many organizations to help the poor and the disadvantaged. So your observation that I am an isolationist is as flawed as your religious views.

I escaped Montreal because it is an insane asylum. All my life I have only felt comfortable with an intimate relationship with the Earth, as in gardening, animal husbandry and the wilderness. Cities, to me, are isolated from the natural world and that causes mental problems and religions based on fantasy. And they serve the purpose of being urban concentration camps for the ruling elite.

However, it is likely that he is, and acceptance if and when he comes out is important... and there coldstream and I undoubtedly part ways in our opinion.

I will take this a step further. The presumption that all homosexuals are of the effeminate, limp wristed stereotype is a myth. It is as likely to be manifested as the exaggerated masculine archetypes of the Village People. Or as likely to have no outward mannerisms at all.

The sheer breadth of manneristic cues of homosexuality would indicate that there is no genetic pre-determinate of the condition, with defined characteristics as an outcome.. beyond the practice of sodomy, which is a willful act, not a characteristic.

Not to mention that homosexuality is something that is often manifested in phases of life (especially adolescence) and then discarded, or is associated with transient conditions of substance abuse or situations of intense stress and emotional dislocation, and it is sometimes encompassed in profligate bisexuality aimed at any target of opportunity.

These are all indicators of behavioural and emotional antecedents to the phenonenon, not genetic. The mannerisms we take to indicate sexual 'preference' are synthetic and contrived, charicatures. They are not real, they are roles people rationally accept and act out.

Which is why making presumptions as to the life long preferences in children is so dangerous. We had a thread here some time ago where a 12 year old child in Australia was subjected to court ordered surgical mutilation.. castration and construction of 'female' genetalia.. based on this new phsychology that states that there is no correspondence between pyschological gender markers and actual physical gender. The body and mind are independent variables in this analysis, and surgical solutions to make the body what the mind infers is legitimate.

That is a moral crime, and it barely raises an eyebrow in our brave new world.

Coldstream what an excellent reply... Amen amen. Adolescent or drunk/stoned behavior is totally differentiated. My grandson age 8, has had no male in the house for 8yrs, he often played with dolls like his Mother and big sisters, he IS effeminate to a measurable degree surely.
Modeling and reinforcement by other especially adult Males in the household alter the probability the male child chooses homosexuality as his "lifestyle".
Some males are for long periods of time, I cannot use the term forever here, just not "comfortable" around females... Psychological/Emotional/ or "Biological" (haha) your thoughts about that please?

I am no expert on the Holy Bible, but I am pretty sure I've read something like, "Judge not lest ye be judged". It is things like this that sadden me about how people manage to twist a pretty good concept such as "love thy neighbor" into something that should be written as, "love thy neighbor as thyself, unless they neighbor is different than thyself". My husband and I are both atheist, but even we "immoral, evil, and licentious" lowlifes consider that sort of behavior pitiable. How very sad.
Sorry for the rant, but that man is offensive.
Take care and be happy.
A.G.

It is offensive A.G. to impose homosexuality on a society or an individual, knowing the misery and health consequences.. public and private it will inflict on them. That is essentially what we are doing now by spreading lies.. by imposing these 'truths' as to its true character to school children or people in distressed and confused situations. These are not presented as opinion, as alien as they are from the principles on which our civilization was founded. These are now ORTHODOXIES, and we are in the midst of a new Inquisition. You could be expelled, fired or imprisoned for 'hate' crimes under this new Atheocracy.

BTW the quote from the Bible should be Love thy neighbour as thyself.. AND.. love thy God with all thy heart and all thy soul and all thy mind. The statement doesn't make sense without both elements. Christ specifically contextualized those New Testament commandments by stating that none of the old truths and commandments, or natural law or moral order were replaced by it. They support and sustain each other. It is part of the sophistry of the New Age to present half truths and selected quotes to obfuscate the whole message.

Since you are atheist you obviously feel no obligation to God, or any Theistic determination or purpose in our sexuality.. in procreation, or as an expression of real God sanctioned love. All is governed by an entropic, accidental universe.. amoral, pragmatic, purely material, governed by personal gratification..doomed to explode in a cataclysmic reversal of the Big Bang, or peter out in a diffusion of the original. All is meaningless, finite, determined by accidental gene mutation and the primary directive of survival of the fittest.. all futile in the final reckoning.

Who do you think you are protecting and loving, homosexuals... bs.. You hate them, you feel no obligation to provide any moral truth, any salvation to them because there is none for atheists, only relative truths, which means no truths at all. All you provide for them is futility, and enslavement to their most base desires.

You're guilty of hypocrisy as well as cruelty, all in the guise of your 'secular humanism'.

I never said all gay men are effeminate coldstream.

And all your examples about 'life stages' prove is that sexuality, much like other personality traits, occurs on a spectrum and is not a black and white issue.

Those who have 'transient phases' of homosexuality have actually simply expressed that they fall somewhere more towards the bisexual center of the spectrum.

As for the post about rabbits. I'll stick to serious discussion if that's the best you've got.

This came from an author of aboriginal studies?? What is the name and publisher of your book?

---->"Cities, to me,[necessary equivocation definitely] are isolated from the natural world and that causes mental problems and religions based on fantasy".

You have studied the lifestyle and systems of aboriginal systems, BELIEFS, practices and more yet you see their "religion" as much more bona fide? They are -very often- drug induced in many tribal societies, surely you know that. Not fantasy though!

Cliffy, one of the oldest known tribal historys with a written language of testimony AND oral history is by- and also about- the Hebrew Peoples - written as well as by others of their time. This "tribe" was at first another, familial clan of warriors. Why are they NOW so dismissed in your eyes/ears?

Give us your book title information please... ---about your "sorcery" (your word) with aboriginal peoples. Expound on that for us. What has happened to all of them since they moved on to the city, Mental Health issues abound from buying into other peoples religions? Are they then also devalued by you and their tribe??

Cliffy. You typically, no, continually, use the word "fantasy" only to explain away all Mainline Religions while denying the most historically documented (by hebrews and nonsectarians) as accurate, accounts of miracles witnessed by man. These observations were not only those of those tribal men, but others, later, as well, ...including myself.

It seems my friend you Only give value to your Own writings, you ignore and minimize centuries of the studies of others- while you are witnessing all these "fantasy-filled" (my word this time) interpretations of "shamans" like yourself and the aboriginal peoples.

Humility, brother humility.
You must see that, Hobbits do not exist either.
It was Fiction.

Coldstream,

What a lode of self righteous religious crap. I know a lot of atheists and they have a much more moral and compassionate attitude toward their neighbours than most religious people I know and are considerably less hypocritical and self righteous. Your diatribes are riddled with hatred and malice than anything I have heard from an atheist. It people like you and your religious beliefs that have turned more people away from the creator with your attitudes. If you are a reflection of the Creator, who would want to know it.

Ah, where to begin!
Aboriginal people didn't have a religion. They had a spiritual life style. They never separated work, play, prayer, hunting, fishing and gathering. They never separated themselves from each other or the rest of creation. They were individuals who worked toward the greater good of the tribe, collectivist you might say, not individualists like our society, which makes it very difficult for the dominant society to wrap their brains around.

Secondly, I have not encountered the use of drugs in any of the ceremonies I have participated in. The North American Native Church uses peyote as part of their rituals but their belief system is only part native and part christian in orientation. Their use peyote as a sacrament much the same as the christian churches use wine and bread.

The oldest know tribal history, that of the Hebrews has been proven to be a fabrication, for the most part, just like the new testament. In the past two hundred years, many scholars have laboured over the inconsistencies of the entire bible and concluded that it is a complete fabrication, thus I say it is a fantasy religion, with as much validity as Lord of the Rings.

When I said I was a sorcerer, I was being facetious, as in pulling your leg (or was that pulling your pisser?). I was trained to facilitate aboriginal ceremony which I used to do, but no longer do as I have taken a more universal approach to spirituality. Some aboriginal people have great difficulty adjusting to life in the city because it is so unnatural to them. Some make the transition to assimilation and do fine in the dominant culture.

I treat all people equally and only have difficulty with those who exploit others for their own personal gain. But I also look for the divine spark in even the most hardened heart and seek to show it to them. I leave the judging to those whose job it is to perform.

First man child Children are said to be found at fertility places. The Wik Munggan elders narrate a myth concerning the creation of the first man child and the subsequent fertility place. Once in the Dreamtime a single man came from the West and met a woman. they decided to stay together and then to make a baby. They made it of clay, using scarlet seeds for eyes, blades of grass for hair and string for the intestines. The man then placed this baby head - first into the vagina and eventually the baby became alive. It continued to grow and the woman's belly began swelling, as did her breasts. Now the baby moved and turned around.
The husband went off hunting and while he was away the woman gave birth. The head of the baby emerged first, then out came the red gum and the baby was born. The woman buried the afterbirth in a hole in the ground. The husband returned and found out that the baby was a boy. He looked after the mother. He dug yams for her which she ate and caught a small catfish for himself. He let the big ones go by unharmed. After a time the baby's skin darkened and the navel cord became dry and broke off. the woman took this to the man. She collected yams and small fish, smeared clay on her forehead and also rubbed charcoal over its body. Then she carried the baby to the father with roots and fish for him. He held the baby. After this, as is the way in these stories, the three sank down into the earth to form a sacred djang place. the name of this place is Pukauwayangana, the boy baby fertility place. Men coming to the place will chase out boy babies and women will become pregnant.

What is wrong with that story? Does it make any less sense than walking on water, virgin births or raising the dead?

I have no idea why you would think that I wrote that web site. I wrote books. Check you PM for a link to my books.

I love you guys but thought I best paste the original thread question. Or should I start a "my dog shags the cat, is this normal behaviour" thread ??? ha!

Thread topic: Are your children homosexual or lesbian?

Are you the parent/s of homosexual or lesbian children? How do you feel about having gay children, does it effect your daily life? Could a parent be to blame or are our children born to it.

What are your thoughts? Are your children victimised, are you as the parent victimised?

I personally don't have gay or lesbian children but if I did it wouldn't bother me as much as it would bother their father or society in general. Why is this? Should we not be more concerned about their happiness rather than their sexual preference?

Would love other members thoughts on such a delicate topic as it can be sometimes

Kiwi-NZ,

Life takes side tracks all the time and we rarely end up where we set out to go and usually find ourselves in the most unexpected places. That is the nature of life and forum threads. Life is a journey, not a destination. Enjoy the ride.
