The distinctions between ambition and arrogance are sometimes subtle, yet critical. From a distance, the two can appear to be the same. However, their results are worlds apart.
Ambition is expecting the best of yourself. Arrogance is believing you are better than others. Ambition is the desire to make a difference. Arrogance is the belief that you're indispensable. Ambition is doing whatever it takes to accomplish what you know you deserve. Arrogance is thinking that the world owes you something, and doing what you can to take it. Ambition is disciplined and assertive. Arrogance is pushy. Ambition is responsible and respectful. Arrogance is destructive and disdainful. Arrogance will drive you into the ground. You know who/what you are.

Clumsy cheap shot, China, uncalled for, unprovoked, and it just makes you look stupid and vindictive. Yes I know who and what I am, which is evidently more than you've been able to figure out, about either of us. You don't even know what many of the words you use mean. Ambition, for instance, does not mean expecting the best of yourself, it's a desire for distinction or achievement. I'm through talking with you or visiting your threads.

Can I start a thread dedicated to myself too? Because, arrogance is exactly what it takes to write a piece like this aimed at another person.

Dexter, talking about confused verbiage. China must be Risus's brother; they both were brought up thinking that they are the only intelligence on planet earth.

No, I have never said that. Its obvious from some posts in CC that there are some other intellectuals posting here. China does not fall in that category.

China, I have great respect for Dexter Sinister. His posts are very reasoned and thought out.

He has correctly challenged both your style of delivery, and your thought process.

Some of what you preach is to be open to learning from others.

Your tone seems smarmy sometimes, like you're too self-satisfied (with what appears to you a very nice reasoned view) to see other differing angles.

You'll still win if you stay here, and really understand what those in your opposition are saying.

I'm a big believer that often one truth blinds us to other truths.

We state this truth and we can't believe anyone would disagree or even have anything else to add to it.

We are also very attached to our opinion, like we're attached to our pets.

So attacking our opinions is like hitting our dog.

It can get very rough posting your thoughts naked and vulnerable for anyone to attack.

We want affirmation, confirmation, an echo of ourselves, a mirror that says, "You are the most beautiful of all."

And then I got one more final thought, the most prescient of all, the most valuable of all:
