Getting away from the humor side of it tough, some people are like that.... it happens in my family all the time that you feel you HAVE to phone a friend. When you do, there's almost always something up.
You really want to know? It's because all psychics are frauds. They cannot do what they claim they can do. They're not all deliberate frauds, some of them are honestly deluded and really do believe they can do what they claim. But they're wrong. They can't.

I am not psychic. But over the last six months I have noticed that I can feel it when someone is thinking really hard about me. It's not a very pleasant sensation, by the way. Makes me very restless and anxious, no matter who the person is, and what exactly she or he is thinking. At first I thought that it was some strange change of mood, but then I got several weighty proof that people were really thinking hard about me.
I had a friend who tried to run a psychic hotline. She read Tarot cards. I tried to explain that IMO she was not psychic but empathic. Her comment on having run the line for a wile was "I can't believe how many N---- (her name) there are out there". All her callers were women stuck in dead end relationships with abusive husbands and no prospects. This was N's background. She could dispense advice from empathy not through any special psychic powers. Unfortunately her customers were in similiar finacial straits as she was and practically none paid their bill. N had gone into this without a good business plan including how to go after debts owed. She went under due to customers not paying bills. A contract with a collection agency would have saved her.
Then there's the one about the Parapsychology convention where the master of ceremonies wanted to call the meeting to order and said, "All those in favour raise my hand"......
