there seems to be a link between chemistry and origami. I have two other friends who are hugely into both. maybe that's not a big link

ha yes. of course, the old 108 bond angle.

I'd say your average chemist doesnt like tetrahedra at all. they tend to ignore the hydrogens and only write the bonds in. In other words, methane doesn't exist.

OK this is a triumph for me. There's a model known as the kawasaki rose, which is kind of a rite of passage for the origamists. I learned to do it a long time ago and it's a wonderful model but there also a revised version, which has extra petals and is a much more realistic design. Ive been trying to make it on and off for years.

Last night shaw's power supply went tits up at my apartment and so i was forced to look away from the computer for a while and decided to have another go.

I did it!
