There are thought to be hundreds of pumas and other big cats roaming the British countryside.
Reports of a "panther-like animal" attacking a flock of sheep were yesterday being investigated by police.
Officers were told of a "large black animal" making "strange noises" and targeting animals in Broadway Tower, Worcestershire, on Sunday.
The witness said he was certain the animal was not a dog or fox but more like a panther.
Evesham
West Mercia Police dealth with a similar incident earlier this year when a lynx-like cat was sighted in Evesham, Worcestershire.
The chief warden at West Midlands Safari park said despite many sightings of large cats none have been confirmed.
