Bridezillas

OK, how far am I supposed to humour the couple that is getting married? In this case it's my brother and his fiancee. I've already agreed to wear a hideously unflattering outfit for the bridal party without complaining to them once (how either of them could ever think it's something that would look good on a curvy girl is beyond me). I'm spending tons of money to fly up there for the weekend (can't stay longer cause I got a new job) and have already gotten the gifts and all that crap. I think I'm being pretty good considering I live in California. I'm only in the bridal party because she kicked out one of her friends.

Well, they need to have my shirt made (I asked them to send me the fabric and the pattern 2 months ago and they didn't). Last week the maid of honour told me to buy the fabric down here and I can't, cause it's Canadian only. So Friday I told them that and they told me to get measured and send the the measurements to the maid of honour. I said I'd get measured Friday or Saturday. Well, here it is Sunday and I've already received 3 messages from them about getting my measurements done, one of them that was bordering on pissy. I had myself measured Saturday on my way to work. I was planning on emailing the measurements as soon as I woke up today (did I mention I'm working 72+ hours a week of night shifts right at two different jobs right now?!) because the alternative was to call them at 7AM on my way home. Why on earth would that jackass of a brother call me at noon and 1PM pissy cause I wasn't answering the phone? He said he's a little annoyed? Really? Cause I get a little annoyed when people don't respect the fact that I do need to sleep a little before working a 12 hour night shift. I don't call him at 1AM and get pissy, that's no different than him calling me at 1PM in between shifts.

Thanks for letting me rant a bit... I obviously can't do this to them because it's their special day. I just have to eat crap. I had to email them the measurements rather than call them because I know the annoyance would be too obvious in my voice.

Well, how does one reply to a post like that? Obviously not a subject that anyone here would know anything about.

So you're telling us that you're fat? Not that there's anything wrong with being fat. I mean, Kreskin is fat too. And he's proud of it.

Ah well... Off to a thread that I actually know something about...

He's the one who was acting like a girl, not her. He already left me a sheepish message so he knows he was being a moron. She's been pretty nice every time I've talked to her. I don't understand what turns a normally mellow guy into a whiny little girl.

Simpleton I'm not exactly fat (I wear an 8 or 10 which I'm perfectly comfortable with), I'm just top heavy. I eventually would like a reduction, but can't do it right now. I said I really didn't care what I had to wear as long as I could wear a good bra under it because I don't generally leave the house unless I have a minimizer on and they work really well. I don't look out of porportion at all with a good minimizer on. So, she picks a shirt with spaghetti straps. Lovely. I already went to Nordstroms and went through all the bras to find one that would hold me in and not show under this shirt, but I'm not too confident.

Oh, okay, so you have some large breasts.

So you're not confident about having large breasts? Or you're not confident that your bra will hold your breasts in? I wouldn't even worry about it. Let them show.

I'm not particularly confident about them in general (despite what men may think about breasts, in my case bigger is not better), but in this situation I am more concerned that there will be a bra mishap or something. I don't need to flash the wedding guests or walk down the aisle with jiggling breasts. I haven't worn anything with spaghetti straps since I was 12 because it isn't a good look for me. I look good in a good bra, I don't without one. I'm not thrilled with being imortalized in those wedding pictures looking like a ho, but it's his wedding so I'll suck it up. I just really don't appreciate the wakeup calls about this stupid ^$^#%)_ shirt.

Oh, they can't be that bad. How large could your breasts possibly be?
Do you have a picture that you could post?

But if it makes you that uncomfortable, just decline. Attend the wedding as a guest only.

It's a little late for that. I'm just gonna suck it up for his sake. If they want us all to look stupid at their wedding, that's fine. On the bright side I had already bought a really cute dress for the wedding before I knew I was going to be in the bridal part so I have a good excuse for a night out here(I need to get my money's worth from that dress). We're going to my favorite restaurant Thursday night

That's great! So when are we going to see some pictures? We just want to see if you're blowing this whole thing out of proportion. A picture of the shirt would be nice. As would a picture of you in the shirt, and without a shirt, so we can get a sense for what is happening.

I feel really dumb talking about subjects that I know absolutely nothing about. I think that if you were to give us some idea of the scope of your problem -- by posting the pictures -- we'd be able to be of more help... and/or be more sympathetic to your problem.

I was only joking. But if you want to post some pictures of your breasts, I won't complain.

Exposing your bare breasts is legal in Canada by the way. Maybe this thread should be moved to the Canadian Culture forum? I'm actually quite surprised that you didn't get offended by my posts. I was expecting you to get offended several posts back. I'm glad to see that you're not one of those "almighty" feminists that have become so prevalent of late.

Don't worry, I know you're kidding I grew up around my brother (before he turned into a whiney little girl) and his friends. I assure you, whatever you would say about my body had you seen it, I've heard from them. It takes a lot more than that to offend me They have really influenced my view of men over the years! I guess that's another story though. It's going to be fun to see some of them at the wedding.

A story that I would like to hear nevertheless. I am intrigued by these sorts of things. It sort of helps me get my bearings. I used to listen to people all of the time, before I became targetted by some *******s.

But if you'd like to share your story, I'd love to hear it. Yak away, as they say.

I don't think it's any particular story. I just spent a lot of time around them and they were always completely honest. It's led me to have different expectations of men than some of my girl friends. The one common thread I have heard among the men I've dated is that I'm a lot more laid back than most women. I don't care if they go out without me, I do go out without them, I don't need to talk about my feelings or where the relationship is going (and I don't want to!), etc. I'm just not overly sensitive or needy. I pretty much expect most men to be like my brother's friends and enjoy them for what they are. I've listened to conversations about everything from strip clubs to pet peeves (my favorite was Joe bitching about his girlfriend's shyness about her body. He said something along the lines of "Girls can be so stupid sometimes. If we see you naked, we're going to like it." It's hard to be really self conscious when you hear stuff like that!). I feel like I had 6 brothers growing up. The only downside was when I was dating someone, they had to deal with that too . They're a good bunch though.

What do you mean targetted by *******s?

Blackburn Radio Incorporated. All *******s! Every single one of them. From the majority owner, Richard Costley-White, through to the President, Sandy Green, and his wife, on down to the Vice President of Finance, James Knowles, to the local operations manager, Ron Dann, on down to the person that mops there floors and dumps there trash.

Total garbage... From their three local stations, to the three stations they operate in Chatham, right on to their stations in Wingham and Leamington. Total friggin' crap!
